What have you done today thread?

Semi-retirement part time jobs. Following my run in with the very angry mental case a couple of weeks ago I applied for a couple of jobs, when you're working at the bottom of the hourly rate ladder there's lots to choose from. I've turned down covid tester at Stansted Airport but I've just scheduled an interview with the Post Office. I always fancied being a postie so see what comes of it.

Organised a cleaner for my Stepmothers place, as frankly, its all getting too much for moi. I did it through Maid2Clean as they seem reasonable, but I note no local cleaning agencies do actual DB checks?

I've put my hand out to my family for costs and I can't believe its being questioned! HTF do you question the cost of something that is needed, but you're not willing to provide! There's an emotional back story to this and in some ways justified to those with an icy heart, but, by fuck, some of my family are plummeting in my estimation!

On the plus side I'm a much nicer bloke than I realised. So if I bin the NCX and peg it, hold a glass high to old Tai, cos he's a good 'un!

Questioned or refused?
My MiL needs a home nurse and my wife called one agency yesterday, agreed with the price, arranged for a first visit and said she'd pay for it. I didn't refuse it but I certainly questioned it.
My wife used to run sheltered housing so she knows exactly what level of care is needed but she's rubbish at RFPs because it's always come out of someone else's budget.

Our Post Woman is a degree educated child psychologist! Didn't quite understand how she became a postie but she absolutely loves it and what was a stop gap is now most definitely permanent! I quite like the idea of being a postie, but imagine the winters are harsh!

Another face to face private french lesson (I do so love a socialist country - I get a huge budget for training! You'd have thought the local language school would be really keen to help sort lesson given the money that goes their way!! ) - always more difficult to speak when 'on the spot' as it were. But, need to MTFU as some of the guys from rehab are organising a meet up next saturday and I've been invited. Half of me is well chuffed and half is bricking it big time!! LOL Two more lessons to go before I meet them all. Oh, and I've agreed to 'taxi' someone from this way, so will get to talk French for 2 hours before I even get to the meet up!! LOL Eeek!!!

Then sat at a cafe for lunch - had to put a scarf over my legs cos I got sunburnt over the last two days!! Legs couldn't cope with a third day of sunshine When we get unexpected sunshine I do forget that my skin thinks I'm ginger!!

Then physio -

"No Smixxy you can't use a skipping rope yet, no it's probably not a great idea to add playing squash again to your list of goals; yes, we can build you up to doing press ups on the floor; no I still don't think parapente is a good idea for you but ok, we can work on the muscles so you can try it; can't you concentrate on just motorbikes for now??"

Poor guy! Now I have a positive head (mostly) back on me, I'm back to wanting to do almost everything again!! LOL But at least we laugh a lot

Had a nice day - went out through the countryside to North Weald on my scabby old Blade .
Not lots of miles but just enough.
Sat at the cafe at the airport - lots of private single prop planes then a Scout helicopter was powered up - thought it was just an engine test but it went into the hover and off it went.
Work am then a Barbie

Rode over to my brother's house for lunch. First time on the bike in ages and first time since hand operation. Was okay and able to use the clutch with no issues after the hand warmed up. Nice to use the bike as the traffic was horrible coming home and so it was much quicker being able to filter. Got to love the overtaking power of the K.

In agony all day as I pulled a muscle in my neck. The cause? Foolishly stayed at a hotel and, when knackered, selected the 'wrong pillow' and must had slept all night with my neck at 45 degrees.

I’ve just tried gazpacho for the first time. Bit meh I think cold, spicy smushed tomatoes. Got nothing to compare it to, but at least I know it’s not horrid. Not something I’d actually I don’t think

Bit too much for that time of day, felt terrible on return home. 30 mile round.
