At work if I'm out on a construction site I wear a combination of yellow jacket and orange trouses to cover all options. I also have a ligthweight vented jacket which is half yellow half orange.

And for weddings ...

- it's actually EN ISO 20471
- the retroreflective material has to be in the correct H pattern and completely around the torso or limb

Pink does have a certain novelty about it! I put my ideas together on an early post on my ‘blog before they were called blogs’ way back in the early 2000s – you can still find that post [...] when I attended a Metropolitan Police BikeSafe course, I was surprised to discover that hi-vis clothing wasn’t top of the list in a discussion of possible strategies. Whilst hi-vis still promoted as a good thing, the big difference was that its limitations were also discussed. The presenter explained how it needed a background contrast to work, and also suggested that the use of Saturn Yellow hi-vis has become saturated because everyone uses hi-vis yellow.

And pink got a mention. Now, I wonder where they got that from?

Nowt wrong with pink - I had a pink Baleno jacket for years...

...but don't start me on those effing polite waistcoats.

Actually, my particularly bright boots were black Daytona MX style, with two fluoro 'crazy paving' shapes inset, a purple-pink stretchy section at the heel and 'Daytona' written diagonally between the two fluoro sections, in the same purple-pink.

They went well with my blue/grey/red BMW leathers (Filly said that, on the RT, I looked like Spiderman clinging to a wall), white/green/black Held gloves and white/fluoro orange BMW helmet.

Edit: here's the winter combo, with blue & silver ProTek jacket. Boots are earlier BMW, sadly, so a bit tame.

The picture was at hand as I'd recently explained it to Spin.

It was for a magazine photoshoot. I was circulating the roundabout and the 'racer' was travelling faster. I had a mark to pass over.

We had several goes until the photographer was happy (or bored).

Pigeons were once attached to the bottom of US Coast Guard helicopters. With training as they could spot orange twice well as humans.

At 1:38 in they also appear to make a handy in-flight snack, preheated in the galley oven and served in a disposable tray.
