I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
After getting lost yesterday I realise I need some touchscreen friendly gloves.
Mainly for summer use - so shorty / cruiser / street style will be okay ... but I would like them to be leather.
And cost effective if possible ...

Re: I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
I think you need to slightly alter the request "that work with a CAPACITIVE touch screen".
I have the same problem, a cheap but workable FOD Android satnav but with a capacitive (not resistive) touch screen. Basically it has to be an electrical conductor from glove surface to your skin for it to sense you.
I found conductive paint on ebay but that failed.
I tried the cheap touch screen proders off ebay, they work fine holding them in your hands but not holding them with gloves.
So I watch this thread with interest.

Re: I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
These work with my bike sat nav. And are very nice gloves to wear. They do a waterproof version but I got the non waterproof as use them for summer. Not the coolest as not a great deal of ventilation but good enough for me. Had mine for about 3 years so far and going strong

Re: I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
That reminds me of the paint I got, it was thick and black. But it has to go right through the leather from screen to finger. Some comments in USA said it worked for a while but then the paint cracked and no electrical connection. So I gave up.
DING !!!
Maybe, some very fine fuse wire stitched through the leather but protected so as not to scratch the screen.
DING DING....
I've just ordered one of these. I just might work strapped to bars. Costs nothing, worth a try.

You can buy conductive thread - and as the wife is a dab hand with a needle this is now probably my chosen route. Just been looking at some YouTubes regarding it

Crazy idea, just putting it out there, but how about just stopping n taking off your glove?

Re: I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
Most bike sat navs are glove friendly ...... i can change waypoints etc on my Garmin while on the move with normal leather gloves on , sat nav apps on phones are a different story
Re: I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
I'm tight (as well as skint and techno-dyslexic) so I use a car sat-nav in a waterproof Givi case. It works fine with touch-sensitive textiles but not leather gloves.

Re: I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
But at a premium price. My FOD is decent satnav for under £100. £300+ for a branded bike satnav that is virtually identical inside, that annoys me. I refuse to buy a Bentley Continental because it's only a VW inside. Well, that and the fact that I could only afford a hub cap.
I try not to use satnav with 2 or 4 wheels. I like to know where I'm going not hope a computer is doing what I hoped it would do. But they are invaluable when it comes to finding the final location in a foreign city.

True. My light summer gloves will work the phone screen just about, but not my thicker gloves.

I am not talking SatNav - I am in iPhone/Google Maps territory ....
Anyway, I have just bought some conductive thread - let's see if it works (until the shops open again)

On both the two occasions that convinced me that there might be a benefit to satnav, I knew where I was!hilldweller wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 10:32 am

First was where the same road changed name and house numbers went up then back down. I went 100m further along to the wrong No 112.
Second was out in country lanes, approaching Roman ruins from a different direction from usual. Council were replacing the road signs!

Re: I need some gloves that work with a touch screen
I watched some mega screen friendly gloves over the weekend.
If you give Elon Musk a ring he'll probably sell you a pair for $1,000,000. He does a nice line in boots too.
