In England at least, why would they stop you ? We are allowed to drive anywhere we want.

If you did get booked and turned up in court saying "I was just going to buy a van so I can earn a living" if there's any justice they'd dismiss the case and off you compensation.

Well done. The world needs more selfish people like you :)
I'm not seeing it as wrong as long as it's done right ?

Car dealers are selling cars with handover, motorbike dealers are selling bike, hell people like Amazon are making a killing as are van hire companies, so what's making him selfish here ?
Refusing to pay fines and say the rules don't apply to him, is selfish.
I'm missing why he'd be fined here somewhere.

I'm also struggling to find the bit where Gimlet would get a fine for buying a van?
Err?
If I need a van for work I'll go buy a van. As far as I'm concerned its an essential journey.

Kind of different from gimping it up at the Devils Bridge butty van with a few hundred other people just for the sake of it. IMO like.

Refusing to accept and be bound by every idiotic, ill-thought out and damaging government directive isn't selfish. Blind, unthinking compliance isn't public spirited, it's the opposite.

Trust me, I really don't..

My ideal form of social distancing would be living alone on my own island with the only landing point covered by a gun tower.

We’re not allowed to drive anywhere we want though, strict guidelines in section 6.1 of the guidelines and they haven’t changed

I have an amendment dated May 11. It's on the .GOV site.

Coronavirus outbreak FAQs.

1.7 says you can travel to open space irrespective of distance for exercise or outdoor activity.

So, you are going to XXX to sit and have a picnic. They can't prove otherwise. More important why would they bother stopping you and asking why ?

1.1 says you can socialise with one other person outside.

I think, but I'm no lawyer, you would have to incriminate yourself.

I'm gonna burgle your house and steal your bike. I'm not gonna be bound by stupid rules.

Criminalising breaking and entering, theft and rape isn't a stupid rule. It's one all reasonable and decent people would agree with and expect. But if you wish to test the rationale of commonsense and decency, go ahead and try. You'll get a severe case of explody head syndrome. Those are my rules.

weeksy wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 10:16 am So here's a question then....

I was debating a ride with a mate... Now, i've had a wee ride with one of the boys on MTBs, but this one would involve a drive over to his. It's about 60 miles. The ride would be in the woods and socially distanced etc of course.

But is it different riding with him after a drive, to meeting a mate at a particular woods and both cycling there ...

Or should we be doing neither anyway....

I don't see any increase in risk as such, but it's perception really or maybe perspective... depending on how you look at it.
According to the rules as i understand it you are complying completely.

Driving to take exercise which is allowed

Meeting one person outside your household while maintaining distance

Its not like you are driving a couple of hundred miles each way to sit on a beach where thousands of others all decided to do the same thing at the weekend ............. and all they did was breach social distancing as they went home the same day (Southend)

So we have to abide by your rules. But you won't abide by our rules ?

I think this is a wind up.

I imagine you as an angst filled 16 year old year old wanking furiously watching online porn. Then in between wanks, going on an adult bike site and trying to be all big and scary.

1. This is 10 days ago
2. The government seem to disagree with that.
3. MCN are slightly biased in this conversation.

Basically, what MCN said seems to go against what the government are still saying now.

The guidance isn't very clear still.

LOL from who ? They don't give a reference.... They just say "They said it was OK.."

Lets see you using that in court :)

I'm not saying you're wrong, i'm not saying much at all, but it's far from convincing based upon a few things
