I've talked to lots of drivers about tailgating and it seems everybody hates it. The strange thing is that none of them ever do it themselves.

You have obviously only talked to English drivers. The French do it unrepentantly, and in Italy it is compulsory.

However the plus side is that the French do it without crashing, whilst the English NEVER tailgate, but crash into the back of you with monotonous regularity. The Italians just crash.

It is basically a national sport here - or at least in my area. And I have been told that they teach learner drivers to tailgate so they are in 'a better position to make an overtake'

But today two cars tailgated me, both in villages One was so close to the back of me (I was driving a hire car) that I really thought he was going to push me out of the way so I pulled over. We were less than 5 minutes from town. How can anything be so important that you are likely to either have an accident or get pulled by the police for speeding (after the overtake)

The other one didn't like me doing 30mph in a village (it was on a long straight road, but a village none the less) so went hooning past me!!!

I think one of my neighbours might be Italian or French then: he could be by the looks of him but we've never spoken (middle aged guy with black, greased back hair). He tailgated me yesterday on the last two roads home which have 20mph speed limits, I was doing just under 30mph. I didn't slow down much to take a left turn, as the awesome CRV handles quite well so I lost him for 2 seconds before he was right back on my bumper. I was very angry and waging war on him in my head, I've calmed down now...just.

The radio clock I bought recently that is so accurate there's no way of setting the time on it manually is running twenty minutes fast.

Why, oh why does it take my surgery 7 working days to send a prescription to the pharmacy next door?

I order it on line.
Their computer checks that it is a prescription I have regularly.
Their computer checks that I have not ordered it recently.

And they still need 7 working days to get their computer to send the data to the computer in the pharmacy next door! WTF?

I never need to be anywhere soon enough to risk crashing down the side of a mountain!!

TBF - if I do ever find myself what I would consider too close, I do slow down and back off. It does freak me out here tho as they are often close enough that you think they are going to 'kiss' bumpers

I was the same with the first one yesterday. I rarely get that wound up but they rarely get quite that close. FFS it was a windy road through a village no not exactly ideal overtaking roads (although, the french and overtaking on/through/before bends is a whole other BYS conversation!!). I was angry cos actually I was a bit scared/threatened - and I've been driving out here for so long I didn't think that was possible any more

Took a while for the war in my head to stop waging, but damn!! LOL

That's not 'the NHS'.

My surgery, the process for a repeat is:
- go online, request a repeat
- GP checks and authorises
- 3rd working day, collect at chemist

^^+1. Hmm...on that point : my P gets B when people slag off an entire organisation, when the problem /fault /inadequacy is 1 or 2 individuals who have "upset" them in some way. (Yes, I know - some things are important).
I'm "in" the NHS at the mo, and really can't fault the care I've had. Full stop. Read between the lines if you need to.

If it's the practise is that big, then its more likely to be one of the receptionists off sick, and their workpile was sitting on their desk - your prescription to be checked by a GP included. But then - that's what happens in all large offices. The more people involved, the less important the responsibility becomes. Sadly.

That's same amount of time it takes our lot to process an electronic repeat prescription.
But I've beat them at their own game, I just order my shit at least a week before I know I'll need it. that'll learn 'em
