Anyone know owt about trikes ?
I kinda fancy one, but the ones I see are all too long, is there a valid reason to lengthen the wheelbase when converting a bike to a trike ?

Re: Anyone know owt about trikes ?
All the disadvantages of a bike with none of the advantages of a car.
Obviously I can see the appeal as a more interesting form of transport than a box on wheels, and obviously they're a very good solution for those unfortunately afflicted with mobility issues, but I can't personally get over the fact that it's as vulnerable to weather and conditions as a bike, but without the filtering/cornering ability that makes bikes fun to ride.
Has anyone ever made a leaning trike?? (apart from (iirc) the Honda scooter thing, that was (iirc again), based on an Arial scooter).

Re: Anyone know owt about trikes ?
AFAIK most are built by back-street blokes, more or less as one-offs.
Most of them look great, some of them handle OK (for a trike). Some of them have serious and incurable design flaws and handle like pigs.
And, as has been said, all the problems of a bike without the advantages.

the only I know is I can't remember ever seeing one I thought didn't look terrible.
As said, they have their place for the mobility impaired.

All the home-built ones I've seen have looked gash- the ones you can buy from a Harley dealer look better, but guessing they'll be waay out of budget for you ( they start at ~£30k... )
But if or when I want (or have to have) 3 wheels , I'll have something like this

Yeah trikes are fucking pointless....but let's be honest, bikes are mostly pointless in general.

Round here they are car based shitters ridden/driven by old Rocker/Greebo types with Mrs Rocker/Greebo looking equally ridiculous behind him.

I wouldn't turn one of these down, I'd obviously fit the least grippy rear tyre I could find.

Re: Anyone know owt about trikes ?
Seen this fecker scrabbling for grip like a pitbull on a lino floor at Barbon.
In general I think three wheelers have all the problems with not much of the upsides but that thing was seriously fast and looked damned entertaining to me.
