I went out for a lovely 120 miles on Sunday, most of it on the back wheel... Joking! It was lovely though, a nice leisure ride for a few hours, blowing off some steam after the lockdown but still being mindful not to crash although I always try to ride that way!

One thing I have noticed is car drivers seem to have forgotten how to go round corners. The amount of drivers crossing the centre line at the moment is unreal, so that's something to be extra mindful of.

I seem to have missed that.

Another hate - not that long ago, when we could dine out, a young woman nearby said to the waitress "Can I get a coffee". It took all of my mental powers not to shout out "Yes you can you dumb idiot, stand up, walk over to that machine and press the correct buttons".

And don't mention "leverage".

Well the wee fuhrer has decided that the virus in Scotland is definitely more scottishy and that we are locked down for a further two weeks allowing her to embrace her narcissistic tendencies a bit longer, and Ian Blackford has decided, via his twitter account, that the Scotland England border is shut and that you should all just F**K Off.
So to celebrate I'm off out for a ride tomorrow, steering clear of main roads and complete with a flask of tea and a couple of home made scones I will once again negotiate my way around the back roads of southern Ayrshire and into Dumfries and Galloway. I would have gone today but it's threatening rain. I'll let ya know how I get on.

I think it has been the right thing, no doubt, and yes, infection rates and deaths are at a higher rate in Scotland, particularly care homes, primarily due to the gross incompetence of the SNP administration and the politicising of the whole pandemic for the purposes of pushing the independence agenda as usual. However, as much as I agree with the lockdown I do feel than individuals riding bikes, fishing and playing golf etc, observing all the "rules" of social distancing should be allowed in the same way, walking, running and cycling is, isn't going to result in any "spike". Large gatherings of people, regardless who they are, should be frowned upon. It's not exactly clever.

For me the problem is the SNP are a very centralist, very controlling nanny state type party. Rarely do you hear from anyone other than Sturgeon or Blackford, they'll only trot out someone else on special occasions or when the leadership is about to change.

Also I can never completely douse the suspicion that they are being different for political reasons, much like the Welsh and some of the northern regions.

We are still in full lockdown here, despite having no conformed cases and no deaths from C-19 since the start of the outbreak. Why not let the builders go back to work outside for example?

Yes there's been deaths, but none due to C-19. The only one attributed was misreported.

This virus is in no hurry.

I think that learning to live with it for, maybe, years is going to be our future. A future without old people. Not the future we all expected.

Everyone has forgotten, Brexit and our climate in deep trouble.

Is it a big bonus for Brexit ? All the economies are shot so we can tell those nice EU people to go screw themselves and take this or leave it.

It’s not just old people. It kills all age groups, all social classes and, unless we are not being told something, seems to kill the fit and the fat.
Scenes like Matlock at the weekend, street parties for VE Day, probably won’t help in controlling the spread. Personally, I can’t see what the problem is with individualS or family members, from the same house, going out locally, but the population of the UK seem to think it’s all over now, So have returned to behaviour displayed prior to the virus coming along.
As Weeksy said, I’m also no scientist but I know I’m delaying going to shops, socialising etc for as long as possible, I have a friend who has died and others who have suffered , and I don’t want it, simple as that!!!
My girlfriend is of the same belief, such that we haven’t seen each other for 2 months now, I can wait, at least I can be confident she will still be there when I do see her.
Just my opinion,
Mick.

to be fair, it's barely killing 'normal' people in the grand scheme of things, i'd be thinking out of the 50,000 or so we're in less than 500 of people who are in the fairly fit average middle aged white person. Harsh as that may sound, harsh as that may be, it's a really really small number. I'd bet more of the 'average people' are killed by cars/RTAs in the usual same 2 month time period.

Whilst that doesn't mean i'm going to jump out and get all complacent, i'd say that a huge chunk of us who are not massively overweight of have known issues medically should be expected to survive this.

That's a tough call there mate... tough one.

This is where it gets weird though because if neither have had symptoms for 2 months and neither are mixing with others, then you can be pretty sure you've not got it ? But then we get into the realms of being a 'carrier' which i don't think we fully understand yet...

I'd like more answers, but i'm not sure if/when/how we'll get them.

Along with another several billion people who'd also like them of course.

That's not harsh, it is the basic numbers that the media hides because it's not sensational enough.

Another figure we may never see is how many have died of all the stock illnesses, like cancer, because of no treatment.

I can't help but think that If the NHS accountants and the treasury accountants had evil dreams of how to improve their situations they would be dreaming of designing CV19.

Meanwhile, watch this space, will whole swathes of the population suddenly get it and die or will it just settle down to a new way life we can actually survive.

Mick.
You could be talking about bike accidents. We all know people who have died and suffered. We keep biking.

Killed or seriously injured on the roads in one year - 28,000. Bikers 5000.

Killed CV19 - 500. ( Fit people ).

So stay off your bike and go for CV19, it's safer.

Yeahbut I actually enjoy riding bikes, they're highly entertaining.
Dunno about you but I find using door handles to public places is rather less exiting.

So bikes have always done well on the reward part of the risk v reward equation.
Touching a door handle then possibly drowning in my own lungs infected puss just doesn't have much fun to counteract its downsides.

The problem is we both have health issues, although not stuff that’s on the Gov list. Im Still working so in amongst the public for 2/3 days a week. We both considered the risks so chose to stay away. Not ideal, the easing of the restrictions means we can meet up now but again, we considered the risk. At least our relationship is still very strong, there’s plenty out there who may end up alone after this.

Like I said, I don’t want the virus, so I’m being very careful, and I can honestly say my staff are doing the same, which helps but when you need to deal with an accident on the motorway, with all that involves it can challenge you more than the norm.

Oh well, it will be over, then the post mortem of the Gov can start!!!

Cheers, stay safe, stay alert, Britain needs lerts!!

I never read em, the only periodical I buy is New Scientist cos it's not quite as highbrow as Nature or The Lancet (which I don't mind admitting are generally kind of heavy reading for me) but has far less biased bullshit in in than the papers.

Currently my employment status is best described as Self unEmployed and the sites I generally work on have been closed for about two months.
I don't mind this because its supposed to give the NHS the chance to ramp up, also it was to flatten the curve and save lives, even if some of those lives are cantankerous old knackers its worth it.
To me easing lockdown too soon would mean that people sacrificed a lot for nothing. Utter fail. Thats not a good deal in my eyes.

Oh and you mentioned that the covid deaths were only 500? (Then in brackets you put Fit People).
I'm not precisely sure what you mean by that, are "Fit People" the only ones that matter or are you disputing the 30,000 + a fuckload covid death rate?
Either way its...odd? You possibly just missed out the other three zeros?

The 500, well it was a long video but what they were saying is the figures were based on flawed numbers, too few people were tested to establish the death rate but as more testing is done the death rate percentage just kept dropping. So if 1000 test positive and 50 die you get a 0.5% death rate. But the reality is there could be 10,000 not tested because they just shrugged it off then the death rate is now 0.05%.

That's where the 500 fit people came from.

The 30,000+ "covid" deaths is also flawed because people with terminal illnesses that get covid are labelled covid when really they were close to death before covid got near them.

They are putting the frighteners on us to keep us under control.
