Easter weekend Friday thread... what's the plans ?
So it's semi-friday today.
A bit later i've got Rusty from the forum coming over with a new Ktech rear shock for his XSR900 to be installed. I've got an Abba stand etc so he's asked for a hand. Thurs arvo i'm taking my lad over to the woods for some jumping fun.
Fri, currently no plans... with the semi-lockdown i think the day will end up being a walk down by the river in Goring. One job hopefully is to fit the wheel bearings into the lads wheel, i've done 2 on the freehub but waiting to see if the actual wheel bearings arrive so they can be thrown in.
Sat, Swinley Summit, jumpy jumpy fun. I've got 2 targets, both drops, i will start 'rolling' and hopefully after a few goes i'll send both.
Sun, my lad is doing an XC race at Checkendon with Southern XC, my race was full so no entry for me. So will be picnic and beers in the field.
Mon, currently no plans, but hopefully GP and the Wilts massive will play out and i'll hook up with them.

Friday, go out on my own for a ride, heading north. Saturday, meeting up with my Dad which I'm really looking forward to as we've not seen each other for months and it's his birthday Sunday, meeting up with a biking friend who I've also not seen for months - he has a route, Monday, meeting up with one maybe two biking buddies and I'm taking them east. I have to inspect and probably replace my front pads before I put those miles in and I've a couple of other little jobs. It's looking like it will be a good one.

Re: Easter weekend Friday thread... what's the plans ?
I’m off from today until 12th
Plans for next 11 days are to refit the pantry with bespoke, handmade cabinets but only once the ceiling has come down, the electrics tidied up and a wall has been dry-lined, sink moved and I’ve lobbed some paint around.
This may well be interrupted if the mini-digger turns up, delivery has thankfully been sorted but no firm date as yet due to it being a freebie, I’m hoping sooner rather than later as I’ve 5ton of hard core rocking ( ) up on Tuesday together with the timber for the sleeper style retainers. Garden project will then be go, go, go!
Both cars are in the garage next week, mine is in for EGR recall at the main dealership, the Doris’ for brake fluid service at the local independent specialist. Place bets now on the urgent / safety work they have to do before they give my car back to me...
Kids and their partners are over for bacon sarnies in the garden this Sunday and D1 will be packing up her stuff ready to move house in the next couple of weeks.

The flooring for my kitchen finally turned up a little while ago... Shit weekend ahead for my back / neck / knees (but I'll be glad to have the kitchen finally finished!)
That's if I survive 1on1 boxing training tomorrow morning with a guy who's at least two weight divisions up on me (hopefully I'll be able to dazzle him with speed and technique )

Saturday is first BBQ of the year, so today/tomorrow is de-clag the BBQ Friends around for that.
Sunday we have Filly's neice and nephew for roast leg of lamb.
Planning for both events to take place in traditional bank holiday weather, we bought a big gazebo to go over the decking. Hopefully, it will remain in its bag.

Working nights, so other than turning things off and on again, not a lot.

Re: Easter weekend Friday thread... what's the plans ?
I'll be doing the Church things. Two services today, preaching at both. 10am and 8pm. Maundy Thursday.
Good Friday. Service at 10.30am, helping with the livestream and doing the Passion readings.
Holy Saturday, quiet day with family and just relaxing.
Easter Sunday, I'll be up very early for the 6am SonRise service in the Church garden where I am doing the homily. Then home for breakfast, coffee and back to Church to lead part of the Easter Sunday service at 10.30am. Then out to take communion to those who cannot get to the Church and back for evening prayer at 6.30pm to stream the sermon.
Then off for a week! I'll ride the bike during this time.

I imagine it will be like the time Crab Wilson took on Champion Jack Harrison and some 30,000 gathered on Crawley Downs to see the spectacle, despite the magistrate's word, and many of them fighters by profession, some from the roughest and most dangerous classes in the country.
I remember it well...
A sullen purple cloud had been drifting slowly up from the south-west—though I dare say that out of thirty thousand folk there were very few who had spared the time or attention to mark it. Now it suddenly made its presence apparent by a few heavy drops of rain, thickening rapidly into a sharp shower, which filled the air with its hiss, and rattled noisily upon the high, hard hats of the Corinthians. Coat-collars were turned up and handkerchiefs tied round necks, whilst the skins of the two men glistened with the moisture as they stood up to each other once more. I noticed that Belcher whispered very earnestly into Harrison’s ear as he rose from his knee, and that the smith nodded his head curtly, with the air of a man who understands and approves of his orders.
And what those orders were was instantly apparent. Harrison was to be turned from the defender into the attacker. The result of the rally in the last round had convinced his seconds that when it came to give-and-take hitting, their hardy and powerful man was likely to have the better of it. And then on the top of this came the rain. With the slippery grass the superior activity of Wilson would be neutralized, and he would find it harder to avoid the rushes of his opponent. It was in taking advantage of such circumstances that the art of ringcraft lay, and many a shrewd and vigilant second had won a losing battle for his man. “Go in, then! Go in!” whooped the two prize-fighters, while every backer in the crowd took up the roar.
And Harrison went in, in such fashion that no man who saw him do it will ever forget it.
To a kid looking up to me, life ain't nothing but bitches and money.

Today I will be finding out why my generator has stopped generating anything but noise, heat and fumes.
Tomorrow is grandspawn watching.
Saturday is marshalling
Sunday, don't know.
Monday, equally unknown.

MTB ride tomorrow up Longridge Fell
Saturday - Morning fettling with the big ugly blue thing, it may be getting some new (to me exhausts) and a refit of the grab handle so I can hoik it onto centre stand. Afternoon is outdoor tea with our buddies
Sunday - I may walk off Saturdays inevitable hangover or I may sleep it off TBD
Monday - See what the weathers like, if it's good ride the Guzzi and try and dial in the suspension now I've backed the excess preload off or if it's bad weather then I might start building the 29er hardtail I haven't got round to starting because of sodding around with the broken chainsaw which I've decided can stay broken, in a box, under the bench, at the back

Re: Easter weekend Friday thread... what's the plans ?
Hoping I'll not be floored by the AZ jab I've just had.
Got the Easter Sunday video service finished last night.
Have to do some readings and praise items for Good Friday and Easter Sunday morning, then hoping to race ahead of the proper wintery weather down the A87/A82/M74/M6/M1 to get the boiler sorted in the Coventry house and then down to London to get my mother to her second Pfizer jab.
Then 625 mile drive back home.
Have a few days at home and then pretty much repeat, other than different things to sort in Coventry and London.
I'm very, very, very bored of the M74 and M6.

Re: Easter weekend Friday thread... what's the plans ?
Up at sparrow fart and make my way down to Hampshire for some off-roading with Crust and the boys around the lanes of southern England tomorrow. It seems so long since we were last allowed out on them , we have a 90 odd mile route planned with a great mix of lanes, really looking forward to that, and the weather looks perfect
Then it's my eldest boy's 27th saturday,- I still struggle to believe it was that long ago I first became a dad, so it's a full-monte Indian takeaway and beer and undoubtedly loads of laughs with him and his on Saturday night.
Rest of the week-end will involve getting out on the bike with her indoors if the weather is decent, dog walking , garden stuff and some more 390 fettling
- its first trackday is only 2 weeks awa, yaay! !

Re: Easter weekend Friday thread... what's the plans ?
Tomorrow, my physio has moved the appointment from Friday to Saturday, so tomorrow I'll probably lie in, then make hot cross buns, then go swimming. Then bake something else. Hopefully I won't get an email saying that French classes are cancelled next week!! Apply for a summer job in resort
Saturday - I still haven't been out touring despite planning to but this morning I met a couple who'd just finished a tour and ski back down and damn they were grinning. And, as they will stop maintaining the piste after saturday, it's probably the last chance. I also realised that as the clocks went forward, I could, maybe, possibly get to near the top of a mountain to see the sun rise without having to get up at 3am!! LOL Soooooo, there's a slim chance I'll get up really early and go skin up a mountain!! The ski down would be so worth it! - then physio in the afternoon. Say goodbye to a few friends that will now close their cafes and restos and go to wherever they will spend the summer Fcking virus situation sucks ass big time
Sunday - Recover. Swim. Do some homework.
Monday - sunbathe if it's still sunny. Physio. Cooking or baking. Make sure homework is complete for Tuesday and hope I don't get an email cancelling French classes!
