Cool, so I might be better off with the Motobatt with 190A then for £44 quid over the OE Yusasa then. I was gonna get it from Halfords or Wemoto for £50 so the Motobatt is still cheaper.

Just the 190A vs 135A of the OE...then again the OE was fine for 5 years and I know it fits

I put a motobatt on my bike and registered it online and got a 2 year guarantee. Can't remember the last time I kept a bike anywhere near that long, so it'll do me!

Right new battery fitted (replacement Yuasa) and the bike started fine with no weirdness so hopefully that's a good sign. The old battery would also do that until left a few days, so gonna do the same and make sure there's nothing drawing off the battery. There shouldn't be as the grips are on a switchable live from the ignition and the sat nav mount doesn't draw until the sat nav is connected, but will check.
Service is due in just over a week. Was going to wash the bike first but will wait until after, it's not too dirty and there's a chance the weather will be horrible next week and I won't have a chance not to use the bike.
Looking forward to getting the bike serviced. I know it's with me for another year so feels like a bit of pampering before some summer (hopefully) fun.

I had this with a sat-nag charger on my Triumph, permanently live and even without a load it drew current and after a week the battery would struggle. I'm positive the mount for my TomTom400 is permanantly drawing current, even with no satnav attached. I've gotten inot the habbit of discconecting it using the little twist plug that joins it to the battery harness

Mines a TomTom 450. I don't leave the sat nav on the bike if that's what you mean? It does power up the sat nav without the ignition on so it's live but sure it wasn't drawing anything when we checked until the Sat Nav was put in the cradle. In the meantime I've just remembered that today when I fitted the battery I've not put the sat nav wires on the battery, so should be fine for now.
PS - just noted your comment about the twist plug, yes that's another option if it is.

Just been for a loop around Saffron Waldon. Loads of bikes out including a Triumph Bobber combo with a dog in it, a CBX1000, a Kettle and some vintage thing I had no idea of. Weather is cracking for riding.
Left the tank with not much in it so when I take it to Jim Aims they have an easier time taking the tank off and the chain needs a lube so looks like I'll be trialling the Tutoro again.

Just checked Jim Aim had a bike for me tomorrow and check they had the rocker arms in stock.
Service bloke (different guy this time) said at 12k the rocker arms should be ok and he'd be thinking closer to 20k before he'd start worrying. But as always there is an element of 'shit happens' in that he said it could be piece of mind. He said if it had the old part number in he'd definitely replace them but he said they'd check for me and only difference in price would be for the rocker arms and shims on all 4 valves as they'd be changing the rockers.
So......
If it has the older style/part number they are definitely being done.
If not...dunno. I'm thinking that whilst they are in there get them done and then don't worry for until I sell the bike. But then potentially I could leave it till 18k when it'll next get an adjustment or more likely the end of this year and 15k and I change bikes.
I think when I go in tomorrow I'll check the new version seems to be mileage related rather than random failures like the old ones. If they generally now last I think I'll do it as £100 for piece of mind. If they can still randomly fail I'll be doubly pissed off if they then do!

Absolutely and sadly why my next bike won't be a KTM Even yesterday I had a cracking ride but the whole pissing around deciding to switch rockers or not just lingers in the background. Same with a 790, I might get a good one but worrying about it leaking or the dash going wrong etc is not what I want out of a toy. Massive shame as I love KTMs.
With an XSR900 or Z9 I'll just ride it and service myself once a year. I'll probably not have it long enough to ever need a valve check let alone worrying about bearing failure.

and the first valve check on the cp3 is 24k. Reliability and oil usage became one of my deciding factors.

Engine is typical KTM feels like it's got no internal resistance, revs really quick. It's much faster than mine. Sounds like all KTMs like its already blown up! Exhaust is pretty fruity in real life. Only parallel twin I've ridden was the Versys and this is very different. Bit like mine loves being rev'd. Unlike mine though there is no engine braking, feels odd like it free wheels a bit into corners, could be me coming from a single though. The fueling is very abrupt on/off, really goes though.
Suspension and seat are much stiffer/harder than mine which was surprising. On a few bumps felt like I was being kicked out of the seat. The brakes are very good. The screen protects your body from the wind but is very noisy.
Handles well but feels odd with tall/skinny wheels, ok at speed but first roundabout felt like I was going to fall over.
Nice to ride but not 11k nice, or the 9k they are now. Be interesting to ride a Duke version but this wouldn't tempt me.

I'd told Jim Aim to do the rocker arms as for £100 I wanted the piece of mind. They've just called to say that they misquoted the price and they are £100 each He then went on to say that my exhaust rocker had a 'feel' to it. He said I could leave them if I wanted, but doesn't sound like I have much choice. Joy.
On a related note mine has already got the later/updated rockers so seems they aren't full proof either. Oh well at least I should be covered till I switch bikes....to a Japanese one!

So on the con side that was a bloody expensive service I'll be keeping the Duke even if just to re-coup some of the 500 quid and 6 month warranty.
On the pro side I got back on mine and other than the brakes preferred it to the 790 Adv.

Plus it's done now so can have piece of mind till I do swap.
