Ah okay thanks! I've rode it a couple times with it still connected but I'll remove it. Don't happen to have a link to the blanks?

Fabulous ride on the XSR today, about 60 miles, but trying to stay fairly local and not take the piss. Mostly fastish roads, but i love that on the XSR you don't really NEED to go fast for it to be enjoyable, it's just a lovely place to be. The rear tyre is deffo past it's best for me, but i'm exceptionally fussy with tyres that are starting to show middle wear, but the plan is to change it for Portimao (or not) in the next few weeks.

Can't honestly think of a better bike i've ever owned.

Suspension questions then. On the Nitron i've only got a single adjuster, 23 clicks of adjustment. Now i'm not sure i ever checked what it was set to previously, but it seems to be slap bang in the middle at 11 clicks. Today when i was out riding i was thinking it's a little wallowy, maybe the changes in the front end have pointed out some of the rear being slightly wrong, maybe it was me being a bit rusty after winter.

But anyway. To attempt to dial out the wallowing i take it i want to try some clicks to + which will stiffen things ? But i guess that depends what type of adjuster it actually is, is the single adjuster a rebound or a compression ?

If it were a MTB riding as it does, i'd go 2 clicks of tortoise, which is the rebound adjuster slowing by 2 clicks.

Which doesn't really help my question any does it LOL.

I may test tomorrow with it fully dialed one way, then fully dialed the other and then one in the middle, make some thoughts from there.

I'm assuming tyre pressure is good and the sag is set up for your good self,then...

If there's just a single adjustor on the shock it'll be for rebound. A click at a time on a quality shock will make a difference.

Edit...I see some Nitrons have rebound and compression tied in on the same adjustor,if that's the case,then you are tied with a compromise,but should be no problem getting where you want to go.

Well i did some testing this morning, 5 mile loop, roads i know really well, lots of lefts and rights.

Test 1. 12 clicks (we're starting from 0 as being 24clicks soft for discussion purposes). Works well as you'd expect, that's where it's been all the time.
Test 2. 24 clicks, so full rebound. Feels harsh, but not terrible, deffo less wallow.
Test 3. 1 click, so fully soft. Feels OK actually LOL, you can notice the wallow but it's soft and plush
Test 4. 16 clicks. So pretty firm, again, it's responsive and nice, but arguably a little harsh.

Overall, in terms of riding, speed etc, i'm not sure any of them much matter to me, it's only in terms of hitting bumps that it really affects things. Obviously the stiffer you go, the less the bike moves when you move around on the seat into corners, which is something i'm arguably sometimes guilty of. But as to which is better/worse i'm not really any the wiser. So it's going to come down i guess to which feels most comfortable rather than anything else... Which for me is on the softer side rather than the stiffer side.

I'm not sure how interesting that is to anyone other than me, but it's my thread so i'll leave it here for reference.

Everything is a compromise with suspension,but you know what you like for the road and you know how to get what you'll want for the track. That's all useful info.
It's one of the differences between stock suspenders and decent aftermarket gear,adjusting makes a discernible difference. Quite often factories make stock running gear idiot proof,so if someone messes without having a clue,chances are it won't kill them,or make much difference.

I'm interested. As you know, I've had the suspension set up for me on both my MT09 and also my 1150GSA. Both are running Nitron road shocks and the MT09 has springs to suit my weight and has been re-valved. I have to admit that I'm far more confident on the GS than I am on the MT09 but I put this down to 60k on the GS compared to not even 1k on the MT09 and the MT09 has massively different geometry. I haven't played around with my suspension on either bike (and I doubt I will on the GS because I don't see the need to) but I will have a tinker on the MT09 as the weather gets better and start venturing further afield.

More riding today and stiffened up the rear shock a little. On the way out i was not quite getting into the corners as well as i wanted, i'm not sure if that was down to me or the bike or how i'd set it up, but i came into 2 bends and ended up grabbing some brakes just before turn-in. Which was either me being rubbish or me just not being happy.

So i went 3 clicks harder on the shock which on the way home i was considerably happier with. I think though as always we're in a level of compromise here, the softer settings on the B lanes at slower speed work well, but then once you get the 70-90 speeds, you really need a different setting, which is what i had on the way home.

Time will tell how happy we are now, but i certainly enjoyed myself.

Took the XSR900 to meet Scotty and Paulo (formerly RSVMAN) today at Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds.

Found some great roads on the way along with some god awful ones... The rear tyre on the XSR needs putting in the bin... But i had an excellent ride and chat with the boys.... Missed seeing them for the best part of a year. It shouldn't be a year now though as we're all at Silverstone in 5 weeks.

Paulo was on the new angry beast of a bike.... MV Agusta Brutale 1000. It's a properly interesting bike with some stunning bits of finish on it, but also some really disappointing bits where for £5 more they could have made a little bit of plastic to really tidy things up...

Curry and chips in the local fish and chip shop for lunch, awesome, all it was missing was a beer.

Coming home i should have turned on the sat nav.. i took shall we say a somewhat interesting route back LOL.

The seat on the MV looks like a razor!

I take it one of the messy bits is directly under the front of the seat? Seems like a side panel is missing.

Maybe they leave a few ugly bits just to give the new owner something to buy aftermarket.

Herts Council chucked salt down here Fri night :angry-cussingblack: Sure they must have shares in the stuff it wasnt even 0 either.

Roads were a bit white yesterday but hoping tomorrow it'll be gone enough as either way popping out on mine for a blat. I'll be out Thursday either way as going to Jim Aim.

Maybe in a few weeks meet up maybe Henley way or On Yer Bike or something?
