Trackdays ready to open up again.... almost time... What you got ?

Post by weeksy »

Or indeed, what are you thinking so we can jump on with you ?

We've got Pembrey on the 23rd April with Alan @ PBTD, then off from there to Silverstone for the 3rd May along with Fil2, Paulo, Scotty i think as well.

After that we've either got/not got Portimao, but if not, i think we'll shoehorn something else in for the end of May or early June for at least 1 if not 2 days out for the ZX6R.

I know the Wiltshire lads have been debating some Castle Coombe, which i'm not sure how much that inspires me as a track, but as i've not ridden it, i'd certainly be up for giving it a bit of a try for sure. So if they do, i'll jump in with them.
I also fancy a day up at Mallory, not sure why but i do really like the place.

I thought i had Portimao in May but thats looking increasingly unlikely so decided to scratch my itch with the familiarity of Pembrey with the RTTL massive again in August to get a bit better on track and stop thinking about it like a road

There's a company doing their utmost to put a trackday on down near me at Perranporth (Cornwall). It's an old airfield and this is the first time it'll be used for a trackday. They are hoping it will be the first of many and will eventually lead to bigger and better things for the circuit.

My initial thoughts are that it'll be a bit shit with a track outlined with used tyres, very few facilities and probably not a great surface. HOWEVER I also think it's important for 'us locals' to stump up and pay the money, because if we don't, it will end up being a one off event !

I was lucky enough to race at CC twice ! Noise is a huge challenge at CC....was a great track to race however not sure I would pay and make the trek to do a TD on it...its a little flat..bumpy and not a lot of features mate....

Looking forward to the TD starting !

What group are you in, me and my mate are in "old and slow" that's both us and the bikes.
I'll be on my FZR400RRrrrrrrr, I think he's taking his blue Z1000J based endurance race bike, I'll be hanging round by a 18 year old Silver Mondeo and trailer.

Fast group, pretty sure I'll be taking the awning and setting up in the paddock, (blue sprinter camper van), think there's 3 of us going. Hopefully catch you there.

I'll be there, 12th April. My reservations are like yours - the track is laid out with tyres, and it's pretty featureless apart from that. But it's a start for Cornwall, and saves a 4 or 5 hr trip each way for any track time. If it works, they may be encouraged to develop it properly. If everyone knocks it because of what it looks like, it's dead already. I'm sure ther's a demand down here, because of the distance to anywhere else.

Was thinking of the Bike Shed one on the 6th of May ....
But 175 GBP ( it was 140 GBP last year) may be the deal breaker ...
