However all the videos on how to use the system have no subtitles, pure voice over with slide show, so no one to lipread either. Bloody government has made a mess of this as well. So now I cannot learn how to register the marriages online as I cannot access the training... I am not listening to 2 1/2 hours of videos if I cannot see what they are saying. Grrr. I fired off an email of complaint, here is hoping they can turn on subtitles.
Shame they're not on youtube, the Auto Closed Captions are pretty good, especially when you can have them translated in to other languages.

Trying to deal with a company in Poland, who I have bought from before. They now won’t despatch to the UK due to Brexit! First time I’ve been affected by it.

We deal with a few Polish suppliers at work, same problem. Only way they will trade with us is if we arrange a courier to collect and raise all the customs paperwork....

My insurance brokers. For the last however long, 10 years or so, they've done everything by email as per my instructions. This year they've decided to phone me. It's the sort of thing that might make me find another broker.

Only half wound me up.

Ordered shorts from Sports Direct for lounging in.

They arrived, size small! Arrrggghhh.

Checked order, yeah my fault not theirs. Oops.

Got my lad to try them on, fit lovely.

Sadly I have no shorts, happily for him, he does

Cheers, I kind of understood the reasons but nice to see it in clearer terms. Thanks very much to the leave voters, bet they didn’t realise the impact on everyday things.

If it's something I can carry, I'm quite happy to get it here and send it on to you. But you still might get charged the extra when it arrives. Message me if you would like me to forward them to you :)

TBF, they didn't realise and in general, they don't care! I have 'friends' out here (well that live between the two countries) that kept saying "nothing will change, it'll just be as it used to be so no drama" - Sadly, to go back to pre common market means huge changes. But hey ho

You're more than welcome.

The everyday things will, of course, sort themselves out because they are . . . well, everyday things. However I fail to see that buying a set of crash bars from a company in Poland is an everyday thing. How many fuckin' Explorers have you got that still need Polish crash bars?

Just the one Explorer, but pre Brexit I was able to order pretty much anything from anywhere I wanted, so an everyday thing. Now, and as I said it’s the first time I’ve been affected, I can’t.
This thread is for things that BYP or wind you up a little, this wound me up a little, now I’ve moved on, ain’t going to lose sleep over it!

On a serious note, has Brexit bought any changes to you over there?? Have you seen any differences?

Trade, innit.
I saw a post elsewhere about the Suez traffic jam which said that it was a timely reminder to Britain to become more self sufficient. FFS.

No, nothing has changed here regarding the EU/UK.

To be honest nothing that happens in the real world affects me very much. Recep has screwed the Turkish economy even without Covid (but he'll blame that of course) but the £/TL exchange rate is over 10 at the moment so good for people like me who's money is sourced from the UK. Which reminds me, I must transfer a wad over today. Inflation is high but with the exchange rate it's not a big problem for me. It's not good for Turks of course.

About 18 months ago (maybe a bit more) the government decided that just about everything that comes into the country will be levied with 18% tax based on the invoice amount. Prior to that items under £50/€50 AND $70 were exempt and there were clearly different rules in place for other individual countries - I paid nothing on my €200 Greenland style paddle from Norway.

It's what it is, just like we get lots of power cuts and earthquakes here. All part of life's rich tapestry. :D
