Qatar MotoGP/moto2 and moto3 round 1. Discussion

Post by weeksy »

So just 5 days until FP1, let's have your thoughts, discussion, ideas etc.

I'm going for Miller in MotoGP and this circuit seems to favour the power bikes better than most tracks.

I'd like to see a KTM near the pointy end, but think that's optimistic currently.

Second place for Quat with a string showing but blasted on the straight every lap by the flying Ducatis.

I look forward to seeing Pol in action on the Honda, I think he's the dark horse this season.

Rins

Miller

Morbidelli

Maybe not in that order tho....

Since there are doubts about MM racing,I'll take Morbidelli instead.

You're aware MM is unlikely to be racing?

I think that Miller will be a real force to be reckoned with this season, given how happy he is with the feel from the front end of the Ducati. I think Aprilia will spring a few surprises through the course of the year and I can't see past Yamaha lifting the Constructor's championship. And much as I want to see MM93 back in the thick of it, I think it will take longer than Marc (or his fans) would like for that to happen. I also suspect that Suzuki will take a step back this year, relative to the opposition. The loss of Davide Brivio will hit them hard.

Marc Marquez - currently taking part in his second outing on an RC213V-S - will need to travel to Qatar for another Covid vaccination, but will he also arrive in time for the season-opening MotoGP race weekend?

He's in my team (yeah a gamble I know) so I've got everything crossed that he does make a reasonably full recovery reasonably soon

Miller for Sunday. It's a Ducati track. Any combo of Quatararo, Morbidelli, Rins and Mir on the podium with him.

Zarco loves the track and has gone very well and could spring a surprise - if he stays rubber side down.

Yeah, I know- by soon I mean I'm not too worried if he misses the first round, or two, as long as the MM of pre-2020 comes back, ie fully fighting fit :D

As it is, I'm relying on two of my other boys to net me the points this week-end, specifically Jack and Pol ( long shot for the first round admittedly but am hoping for wins this year from him) , and I currently think that Rins and Frankie will be the other main podium contenders this weekend.

Marc Márquez
@marcmarquez93
After the last check-up with the medical team, they have advised me not to participate in the two Qatar races so we will continue with the recovery to return to compete as soon as possible!

https://www.crash.net/motogp/feature/97 ... -drag-bike
Laverty previews MotoGP 2021: 'Phenomenal' Mir, Marquez delay, Ducati drag bike…

'The speed Ducati gets off the line with the rear and front down is incredible. It looks like a drag bike! Teams used to target 2.3s for 0-100k at a MotoGP start. If Jack drops into the 1.9s that's a whole new ball game' – Michael Laverty.
Slightly disappointed to see in that article that Morbidelli still doesn't have a factory spec bike... I'd have thought he'd be on the best this season after his performances last.

Laverty also thinks both Lowes and McPhee are favourites for the Moto2/3 title.

Charlie Hiscox, He knows his stuff but as the years go by his voice is sounding increasingly more like Jack Dee. :D
