Sydney, as we were looking at Aussie Shepherds.
Ended up with a BC, who is more often called a 'furry-faced, twat-arse of a hound'

His paperwork says Chino, the Chinese crested dog.
By the time I got him, after two dissatisfied owners, it was Chico. Maybe because of the script they used when they wrote Chino.

Two cats. Formal names Berengaria and Tallulah. Usually Berry and Lullah. For short, Bez and Loolz. And when they're bad (often) the Berryzerker and Tallooligan. Whatever you call them it'll morph into something that suits

That’s where they’ve just removed his favourite phone kiosk/pissing target from. He is bereft.

Our cat's name (wilko) was the only one Mrs Mango and I could agree on. For me Wilko is the guitarist from the Feelgoods (and bit part actor In Game of Thrones), for the Mrs, it's rugby player Johnny Wilkinson's nickname.
I wanted to call him Haile. (Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia, formerly Abyssinia). The cat is half Abyssinian. Quite glad I got voted down. Imagine trying to explain that every time someone asked 'why did you call him that'?
Highly annoying. (I'll get me coat).
The only other cat I had was named Meep as that was the noise he used to make as a kitten. We intended to give him a proper name when we thought of one. Never did. He grew into a big rufty-tufty ginger tom that used to kick shit out of the neighbourhood cats. Something to do with 'A Boy named Sue' syndrome I guess...

When we got our first dog it was during the time that celebreties were naming their kids after places where they'd been conceived or born - Paris, Booklyn etc.
We called the dog Oswestry (usually shortened to Ozzy). It suited him well
We've carried on the tradition of naming pets after provincial towns. The current dog is called Barnstaple (Barney).

Re: How do you choose a pet name?!!
When we had two dogs, their proper names were Taylor and Robbie*.
But due to their usual behaviours: Splash and Dash.
* Previous owner called him Shiloh. That didn't last long. Pedigree certificate listed him as Robbie Rocket - and that is very appropriate to the way he hurtles around. Taylor was listed as 'Taylor Tantrum' and he could live down to that when the mood took him.

Even bland can be a type of character

It suits him.
When I was a kid, we had a labrador called Dylan cos it was the only name my mum and SDad could agree on (Dylan Thomas for her, Bob Dylan for him!!). We also had a Great Dane called Puppy!!! TBF, he was the puppy initially but that lasted so long that he started answering to Puppy!! Of the animals I had when I left home, the rescue lab and cats kept their names - Chester, Tilly, Toffee & Smokey.
The cats I named were - Gizmo (no idea why, just seemed to suit her - she was an almost stray that spent more time living in my pub than in her 'not very good' home!), Goblin (Gizmo's kitten, story below!) and Ghost (One of a litter that my friend knew of, the friend took one of them too) - she was pale grey, white feet, long fine fur; she also got called an Essex cat - cos of the white feet!!! And I 'took on' a friends cat which was called Fuzz (Ghost's brother) - he was the biggest bruiser like cat I've ever seen. Huge cat with long black fur - Fuzz he may have had but it was a seriously lightweight name for a bruiser of a cat
The cat I had the longest was called Goblin. Cos when I first saw him (he was a stray) he was peering in the window, little black cat with his neck squished into his body and his ears flat so he looked 'sort of' like a goblin!! But he was generally Spud or Puddy. TBF, most of my cats got called Spud or Puddy rather than their name. Sometimes "you murdering bastard"
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!

Not until you contrived the capital B.
Chico hates you now and intends to piss on your kiosk.
