On the positive side, this is the best time of the year to sell a house.
I'd like to find a buyer for mine.

I think I may have mentioned this on the TRC thread but it's something that's been annoying me for the best part of 70 years so it bears repeating.
Nursery rhymes that don't.
Doctor Foster went to Gloucester in a shower of rain. It's OK so far
He fell is a puddle right up to his middle... No. It don't rhyme.
RIde a cock horse to Banbury Cross... Hang on. "Cross" only rhymes with "horse if you pronounce it "crorse". Maybe in Surrey. Or Yorkshire where it would be Ride a cock 'oss t' Banbury Cross. In the civilised world it doesn't rhyme.
The clue's in the name FFS. they're supposed to rhyme.

Where I live there plenty of horsey people that would pronounce cross as "corse".
Just for giggles you might want to look up the rest of the lyrics to the rhyme "as I was going to Charing Cross".

Checked the bank account, £42 to the RAC.. WTF!
I don't have anything with the RAC, or do I?
This time last year I bought the Guzzi, the dealer included an RAC warranty and breakdown cover for free, which I'd totally forgotten about.
It only went and auto renewed yesterday. Jesus H Christ, was the west country bird in retentions frustrating. I just want to cancel it and get my money back!

Green Flag.
Go online, try to get a quote for breakdown cover, it tells me to ring the call centre.
I ring the call centre, give them the details, they quote me £160.16. Bloody hell.
I express my surprise and explain that last year's premium was considerably cheaper.
"Hmmm. Maybe you got on-line discount"
"Well I tried to do it on-line, told me to call you"
"Let me apply it for you.....here we go...revised quote of....£91.84"
Where do you even begin..?

By politely telling them you won't be renewing now, and probably not in the next ten years.

Exactly the same happened to me. A good ploy by the RAC.KungFooBob wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 10:28 am Checked the bank account, £42 to the RAC.. WTF!

Bennett's. £117 policy for ktm started in January. I sold the bike and as not bought/insuring another bike yet then had to cancel. Only 40 quid back and not ridden the bike once

Was tempted to leave the policy going but read that if the bike is involved in an accident another party can make a claim on your insurance, even if you don't own it.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Sounding very nerdy, I'm a bit of an amateur etymologist. I love the history of words and their origins. Many old nursery rhymes are just that, old, and the pronunciations, sounding torturous now, once made perfect sense. Take the American expression, 'Sassy' and the English, 'Saucy'. Both have the same meaning and origin, but the Elizabethan pronunciation would have been 'Sass'. even though writen 'Sauce'.Saga Lout wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 11:59 pm I think I may have mentioned this on the TRC thread but it's something that's been annoying me for the best part of 70 years so it bears repeating.

IIRC, DR. Foster was a piss take of Edward I, who fell off his horse and was roundly berated by the good people of Gloucester who were none too keen on him in the first place.
I'm now off to iron creases in my jeans and put my sock drawer in colour order.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Trying to access the new online registration system for marriages. So we do it all "online", no longer have a book register at the Church. However all the videos on how to use the system have no subtitles, pure voice over with slide show, so no one to lipread either. Bloody government has made a mess of this as well. So now I cannot learn how to register the marriages online as I cannot access the training... I am not listening to 2 1/2 hours of videos if I cannot see what they are saying. Grrr. I fired off an email of complaint, here is hoping they can turn on subtitles.
Proverbs 17:9
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.
