Over to have a nosey around from Singletrackworld

Post by blokeuptheroad »

Hi all I'm Dave. I found this place after Weeksy shamelessly plugged it on Singletrackworld mountain bike forum. I suspect I'm not the only one. It seems lots of us are into two wheels, with and without internal combustion engines. I'm 57 next month and live near Ludlow in Shropshire though I'm originally from Chester.

I dabbled with bikes briefly in my teens though to my shame the only one I owned back then was a Honda CB250N Super Dream, not the RD250LC I really coveted. Girls, cars, career, kids etc. all then put bikes to the back of my mind until I became the classic born again biker about 18 years ago. I haven't owned many bikes as I tend to hang on to them for a long time. Since being "born again", I've had: Honda VFR 800 (pre VTech); Triumph Sprint 1050; BSA A65 Thunderbolt and in September last year I got a new Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro.

I've done a few track days and some advanced training a while back, but not really a speed demon and mostly enjoy back lane pootling and touring when we are allowed.

Thanks for having me 🙂

 there's a few of us here I think!

Always fancied having a MTB ride over the Mynd but haven't got round to it yet.

It's great. I'd be happy to show you around when we are allowed again. Minton Batch descent is great. I also have Mortimer Forest, Bringewood, Hopton, Eastridge etc. nearby and all the Welsh trail centres are an easy drive away. Not to mention all the twisty tarmac in mid Wales. We moved here about 6 years ago, it's a great place to be a biker and mountain biker.
