RACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCING... Time to get our act together.

Post by weeksy »

https://southernenduro.co.uk/events/sou ... -bike-park

Well, it's time to start seeing what the boy has in the tank and there's no better way than going racing of course.

So it's the Southern Enduro at Queen Elizabeth Country Park for me and him in May.

It'll be the biggest race for him of his short time and in some ways a step up for me as i've only raced XC... So potentially a bit trickier !

Can't wait now !

Something a bit closer as 200 miles away is too much 🤣

I must be blind but the only mention I could see on the website was in the Rules section where it says "The Gravity Enduro can be done on any bike as long as the bike is of sound mechanical state and has no electrically or mechanically assisted motors."

I may pop up and say hello. That's about 3 miles from my parents. I grew up riding around it when no-one knew what MTBs were!

Well this is rapidly getting closer and closer to the time for racing...

My target is still not to finish last, i think his target is to try his best to win lol. Either way, both of us are looking forward to it. Although due to circumstances we've not been to scope the course.

Well that all fell apart.

The small child spannered his knee getting walloped by a cricket ball and we've had to bail and give the place up.

TBH i'm not really sure his heart was in the racing and i think he just wants to 'play' which is fine by me.

I got hit by a cricket ball once, only time I have ever been in the nets, wow it proper hurt and left a savage bruise on the inside of my leg, and my mate plays once every 4 years.

well at least you know, are you still going to go or not bother???

Nah, the racing thing is/was 90% for him mate. I'm well aware of my place in the riding world these days. I love MTBing but i'm not as fit as i should be and certainly not as quick as i need to be :)

I like to give him options, but he thinks the Enduro stuff we've seen in the UK will be too easy... Which arguably i agree with at the moment. There's even a new one on Pinkbike
https://www.pinkbike.com/news/details-a ... -2021.html

Mini Downhill.... i was ready to click... "suitable for all bikes all ages, grass field with berms"... i mean seriously, what's the point of that.

so we're waiting for something like BPW, DYffi, FoD etc.. something that will push him on in that context. But he gets out riding day in day out (when not injured) which is the main thing. He pushes himself harder and harder in terms of jumping, tech and riding.... So i'm not unhappy. It also means i get to ride stuff with him that i enjoy :)

Well that escalated.. As we cancelled this weekends race i was looking for something else.

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/event ... d3-Caersws

https://www.moredirt.com/trail/United-K ... kepark/858

DH bike park, uplifted race.... Not sure if this will be the actual course, some of the others look proper jumpy/gappy/terrifying.

£70 entry....
