Cheap supermarket trainers, I knacker them and then buy another pair, I'm terrible at looking after shoes so there's no point me getting anything decent as I'll just destroy them

Just out of curiosity I bought a pair of trainers out of Lidl some years ago. I think they were less than a tenner and weren't worth that. I don't run marathons or anything, but feck me a couple of rags tied around my feet would have been more supportive.

And don't get me started on their razors. The bathroom looked like the set of Carrie by the time I'd finished. :D

I've worn out three pairs of these recently. Used for walking, then retired as gardening boots when the tread goes.

Around the house etc,I used to wear Ecco, but they seem to be a narrower fit these days and hurt my wide plates.

If any of you have had good experience with a supplier of wide fit walking boots,I'd be pleased to check them out.

These days I'm mostly barefoot inside:

but have these for random excursions:
Image
They're cheap and the 'suede' is falling to bits, but they were comfy for a year.

These for wandering about town
Image
Comfy enough, but a pain to tie up.

These for pottering in the garden and 'walks'
Image
These are a bit tired though - I bought them about 3 years ago for dog-walking and travelling, the goretex is completely knackered (they leak like sieves in wet grass).

Just ordered a pair of these for longer 'country' walks:
Image
'Proper' walking boots. :)

But in summer I'm mostly in these :
Image
I bought a pair of these from their original Kickstarter campaign, (without the lairy orange laces) and have a pair of the latest ones on order

And occasionally in these:
Image
Bought last year for the express purpose of taking the piss out of the Ford Mustang.

For the bike I got a pair of these for Xmas:
Image
I'm very tempted to have the soles replaced - there is ZERO grip on the heel and the rest barely has any 'tread' at all.

Other wise I'm in a very knackered (but still mostly water-resistant) Altberg Clubmans that Foxy sold me.

I get really hot, sweaty feet so I hate wearing shoes or boots with lots of material. :( Hence the Rokkertech bike boots and the Tropicfeel trainers.

I've read every reply in this thread and enjoyed looking at the photos. Feeling a bit strange but I'm sure it will pass. Off to the motorcycle section for some restoration.

Mine will be Sainsbury's or Tesco, usually cost between £15 and £20, work alright for me. I don't go in Lidl or Aldi, I find both to be very disappointing experiences

I'm lucky in that I don't get sweaty feet, but these are bloody awesome

In the summer you can actually feel the airflow, whilst somehow not feeling cold when I ride in say 6c on a spring morning. No idea how that is possible but it works. They are actually cooler than my TCX trainers whilst being 100% waterproof and have decent armour. I took a punt on these but they've been awesome.

I kind of covered this here:

I was very much in favour of the DILF retro trainer (Sambas / Gazelles - I have them in four colour schemes). But of late have migrated to the Nike React Vision. I have them in four colour schemes, all pretty TWOC'y.

I would have to admit being the Imelda Marcos of RTTL ... i have loads of shoes.
In lock down, mind, it is either a pair of Scarpa walking shoes, a pair of blue timberland boots - or the spa of satan - a pair of crocs for indoor wear. Yes, they are horrid, I wouldn't wear them out - but they a comfier and warmer than any slippers I have ever had. And you can wash them ....

But I also do like a Doc Martens or 5, a cat boot. a Redwing, 5:10s, Etnies, white trainers in general, etc etc etc. The list is very long.
And then there is / (was) work shoes ....
And motorcycle boots

Workboots for work, usually at the cheaper end of the scale cos they never last so spending more is just wasting cash.
The rest of the time its usually Meindl Desert Fox boots which are very comfy and last well.
Image

If its wet going I have some Altberg boots but the soles on those are a bit shite, they always feel ever so slightly slippy.
Then for proper hot summer days and swimming on the rivers or lakes I have some Merrell all terrain sandal things.
For cycling I have Shimano cycling shoes and for climbing some Sportiva Mythos climbing shoes.

I don't own any trainers and maybe have one pair of normal shoes, for when relatives die and I have to look respectable (ish).

Until a few years ago I wore stilettos almost every day unless I was doing something specific such as motorcycling riding or on a site where safety clothing was required. Now, most of my shoes are flats because decades of wearing high heels have ruined my feet so my big toe joints don't bend properly. I miss those shoes.

currently got these black ones for everyday use and ive also got 2 pairs of the grey and volts for when the sun comes out.

Sandals for everything else (usually Merrel but Teva if they're in stock). Socks with sandals if it's a bit cold.
I am issued steitz secure safety boots for work. Probably the best boots I’ve worn in a career of uniformed service roles..... Better than my Altbergs ??Probably yes !!

Work tends to be boots; Altberg Clubman/Field & Fell.
Casual tends to be Adidas Jeans or Field & Fell for dog walking.
