Dull thread... day to day footwear.. what do you go for ?

Post by weeksy »

Generally i wear Five Tens, now owned by Adidas, but still sticking with their styles as per FiveTen.

Image

These are the style i usually go for... but they're not the most functional outside of MTBing, but work well enough for day to day use like going to the shops, pub etc...

But i'm thinking of something a little outside of the norm for me.

I quite like these, look comfortable,
Image

Only issue currently is that they need to be Adidas as i've got a pending return with them so have £90 in credit, so may as well stick with them to use it up.
Adidas do awesome styles from the 80/90s, but i think i'm a bit old for them these days personally. Even though quite classic.
Image

I was debating going more 'walking' but they're a bit, well, clunky/bulky if you ask me, maybe a bit stiff and restrictive too
Image

I've got my 'work' boots, but they're more a dress style or posh nights out with shirt style... So... throw me some ideas.

Rigger boots, Haix workboots or a pair of old army boots depending on what I'm doing.

The Haix boots I bought as they are issued by work and comfortable enough to warrant my buying some.

I think they'd be massively excessive for me. Along with not really going with my usual attire of shorts.

Currently a pair of Regatta waterproof trainers as they are my go to dog walking footwear.

In the summer, it was a pair of lightweight mesh trainers, can’t remember the brand but they got relegated to DIY duties before dying recently. I really should get another pair or I’ll end up trashing something else...

Under normal circumstances, day / work wear were Loakes / Barkers / Jones brogues depending on what was in stock in my size in a colour / style I liked.

Loafing - Adidas Gazelles. Had many a pair. My daughter bought my last pair as a present. She knows me so well.

Walking - Berghaus Gore-tex shoes. Covered in mud, stinky and live in the Ketter box outside the front door, but good bit of kit.

Office - Ted Baker Chelsea boot. Black leather, blue Paisley stretch panel and purple stitching. Boom! https://www.tedbaker.com/uk/Mens/Access ... 1239-BLACK

Going out - Slick pair of Jeffery West brogues. Mental shoes, never spent that much on a pair of daisies before or since, but I love 'em. Can't find the actual ones I've got, but just check out the range. https://www.jeffery-west.co.uk/

Indoors - Blue plaid Thinsulate slippers. Oh yes, I shit you not. All set for the care home and colostomy bag years. Get in.

Trainers usually from Clarks.

When they get scruffy /semi worn out I used to wear them to destruction at work.

And repeat.

General chilling, can't beat Vans - super comfy. Have 5 pairs :D
Slightly smarter trainers - Adidas Jeans are my current go-to.
Work - currently wear a pair of decent pair of DeWalt boots as they are also fine for riding the bike in. All day comfy....

I'm on about my 8th pair of Etnies, been wearing them for years. Use them for work and everyday. Comfy and don't look too trainer like so can wear with everything and usually only cost about 40 quid.
Image

And my KTM wellies cracked so I took a punt on these Mil tec tactical boots for walking in the woods out the back. Only 40 quid so wasn't expecting much but they seem fine so far. The zip makes them easy off and onable and fine in normal mud, I wouldn't wanna go ankle deep as they aren't waterproof but they've been fine in the snow and usual mud. Not as good as proper walking boots, but fine for me.

Clarks Nature for me. I can wear them all day if necessary without discomfort. The only problem is they let in water at the slightest hint of rain.

Steitz steel toe capped boots for walking (used them when I worked trackside and they were brilliant after breaking in)

Sandals for everything else (usually Merrel but Teva if they're in stock). Socks with sandals if it's a bit cold.

"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Mainly Puma NRGY. The super soft spongy sole makes them like walking on air. I have a fairly new pair i'm wearing at the moment, with another brand new pair under the bed awaiting the demise of these ones. I don't intend to be without a pair.

Image

I have a pair of Merrel Moab GTX walking boots, which are waiting to be walked in, but due to a fooked everything i can't walk too far at the moment. I'll get there eventually...

Loads of shoes, which are rarely worn and only on occasions. Mostly though I am barefoot. I'd rather not wear shoes if possible, but in warmer weather its havaianas, NEXT sliders or birkenstocks.
