MY first car i swapped for a CD player in my mates dads scrapyard. That hit me hard as 5 days later after having 5 glorious summer days of driving and syphoning fuel from car-parks, we were pulled by the Police. My mate was only 15 who was driving, i had the provisional so all the shit ended up on my doorstep. I was banned for several years for no tax, mot, licence, failure to stop, assisting a minor and sod knows what else... So I had a 5 year rest from cars lol. Trying to think now of what my first car was after i got a licence back.

Class winning rally cars for I think 13 consecutive years ..looked and sounded great as Group B cars .. ( especially considering they ere kept on the road with plywood sump guards and valve springs from a scrapped rover v8 engine ..

Here's ours, a Series 3 1500, which we had for 12 years. I did a rally in Wales with no 2 son, aged 15,as navigator, and came home with a trophy (4th in class, 10th / 45 finishers. Our rally prep involved taking off the hubcaps to make it faster (and cos they're hard to get) and pointing the spotlights at the hedges. 2 owners after us taught it to rally properly - it won the Coupe des Dames on that P to P rally.

daimler dart with a worked, sp 250 HEmi in it. current prices 49 K hemi 250 CU inch V8 a very tuneable engine as any 70's drag car enthusiast

Anyone know roughly what this should sell for...or looking to buy one?
I kind of accidentally bought it in with a house purchase in the summer.
The seller had come into an inheritance, couldn't drive any more due to medical issues so I bought it along with the house and it's still in the garage, other than coming out for when I need to get things to/from the back garden.
80,500 on the clock. No MoT currently but doesn't look like it'll have any issues.
Base model with no power steering but easy enough to add.
I kind of accidentally bought it in with a house purchase in the summer.

Questions : 1.6 or 1.8? Manual or automatic? Lots were 1.6 and auto and worth a lot less. They rust. Sills in front of rear wheels, and everywhere underneath. Mechanically pretty bulletproof. Any history? Let's have a look at the reg so we can explore the MOT history. What's the hood like?
Interestingly, it can't be seen. If the hood`s no good, it's probably been wet inside, which can be a nightmare re trim, rusty floors etc. Good early flip lights versions are quite sellable and this is an MX5, not the earlier Eunos.

He owned it for 7 years and did 500 miles in the first 3 years then couldn't drive for the remainder other than taking it out of the garage from time to time.
Pretty sure it's in very nice cosmetic condition.
Didn't notice any rust although there are the normal places where rust has been repaired.
It really looks like an enthusiast owned car...I can get more pics at the weekend when I'm down south. Might even take it for the MoT.
There's a decent stash of documents showing work on the car but again I'll be able to have a better look when down south.

Also have a look at the battery compartment in the boot. Known to be a good breeding place for tin worm. And the roof, as has been mentioned. If it's been folded down incorrectly for yonks it may well have discoloration/creases that won't be fixable. New roof window.
And make sure the tools are all there: jack, wheel brace, curling tongs, hair dryer, etc.*

Definitely put it in for an MOT, and show us the failure sheet. It has rust history going back 9 years so could be OK, could be rotten. So... Could be worth anything between not very much and quite a lot. Hth. I like it, btw, but you're probably too far away.

hmmm - if I had a garage with space I'd be sorely tempted to make a cheeky offer. Friend of mine from Uni had a black one from new and I had a go in it - lots of fun.
