Re: What have you done today thread?
Did my good deed for the day.
Next doors car hadn’t moved for a couple of weeks and when he tried yesterday morning one of the rear wheels was locked solid.
So I went out this morning and told him to put the car into reverse and ride the clutch till it was straining to move while I belted the wheel with a big hammer. (Old banger so damage didn’t matter)
3 or 4 good whacks and it was away.
My neighbour knows nothing about cars, diy, gardening anything. His wife does most of it

Found out furlough is coming to an end! I'll be doing 3 days a week on site and 2 days working from home. Back to 5 days a week on site after Easter! Dunno how I'll cope tbh!

I'm dreading having to go back into the office, I've not had any furlough but have got very comfortable working from home full time.

Serviced the Aga. Successfully. I lit it last Sept as usual, and said to Mrs W 2 days ago that it was doing really well, stable, up to temp, no popping. Next day....out. It must have been listening. Took the burner apart, cleaned it up, reassembled, lit. All's as it should be this morning, quiet, temp on the line. Yay.

Just had a tooth extracted. Had the choice of root canal through the existing crown or extraction. Having gone the root canal through a crown before, and it still giving me gyp, I went for the medieval option.
30 minutes of tugging, levering and eventually drilling got the bugger out.
Just having a luke-warm coffee and waiting for the lidocaine to wear off and the fun to begin....

We had an oil Rayburn that did hw and ch...as well as cooking. It got replaced with an external boiler shortly after we moved in, and the man said i couldbt reconnect it for cooking, so i naturally did. We didnt use it much...though it was great when we did so we sold it. I miss it a bit...but the 1300litre tank lasts a lot longer now...even tho swmbo is nesch.Wossname wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 9:46 am Serviced the Aga. Successfully. Just had my first dose if the AZ vaccine at my local mass vaccination centre in Portsmouth ..
Very slick operation with minimal queuing and staff that knew what they were doing.
Managed to book it through the NHS website despite being too young and having no medical conditions. So if you are 60/65 in good health and want to get it done, check it out ( just ignore the eligibility paragraph and go straight to the booking link ) ..

Don't even joke. Wisdom tooth extraction last year was bloody awful. I suspect it may be that which was the root (pun intended) cause, as I recall a huge wad of blood and shit breaking off the night I returned home. Suspect it was the clot and that, in turn, lead to the infection. Everything crossed this goes ok as I really do not want that agony all over again.

Getting three trees trimmed a bit & having one removed. They showed up with EIGHT guys. They'd removed the one tree before I even knew they were here.
These fuckers are quick, done & dusted in an hour. They have 5 other jobs scheduled today... so if they're all $500 jobs that's $3k for the day. but the last two jobs are large tree removal & that usually runs about $1k.

Right now I'm struggling to not read the dentistry posts!! It's like a car crash, you know you don't want to look but can't help it!
I have to find a dentist here soon as I've got a very old temporary filling, but I'm terrified of going to a dentist here!! LOL Half tempted to wait till I can go to the UK and book an appointment with the dentist my SIL works with!! LOL Probably shouldn't wait that long tho! LOL

Just finished the antibiotics for my failing root canal though I’m not convinced the infections cleared fully and back to the Dentist on Tuesday for phase 1 of root canal repairs. Joy.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I'm on the 5th day since extraction and the discomfort is finally starting to ease.
I can't wait to eat proper food again.
