We don't have wars here :(
Lots of churches and villages will have their own local memorials to fallen service personnel ..... Even the Canaries might have sent a few over that didnt come back and are remembered in town somewhere
We both love to deep research and explore, but nothing like that.

We do giggle when we go exploring.

In Cornwall we'd be Emmets.
I bet there is something in the Castillo San Gabriel in Arrecife!

No. It's a beautiful calm place. The Canarians don't do that.

Apart from the pirate museum on top of Teguise where they call the English murderers scum.

Memorials are calm places. Somewhere for people to remember and reflect, a place of and for respect...

Honestly, nothing.

I've been to Normandy landing sites and many, many similar around Europe.

Nothing here.

Apparently, "The entrance to the Castillo San José is ‘guarded’ by two large Spanish nineteenth century heavy howitzers".

Or pop over to Tenerife! Plaza d’España in Santa Cruz, the square is dominated by a monument to the fallen of the Spanish Civil War. It'd be very unusual and I'd even say disrespectful for any country to not honour their fallen with amonument!

Not exactly a War Memorial, and my bike is annoyingly just out of shot, but it was parked next to memorial to the concentration camp in Albetera (set up during the dictatorship of Franco) where more than 25,000 died/were murdered. Closed in 1939 just two months after WWII started.

It is said that Rudolph Hess visited the camp before the Nazi's started building their concentration camps.

Had a fabulous first blast for months (and months) on the 765 this afternoon, great fun albeit got shaken to bits, the roads around here really aren't suited to the suspension settings its currently wearing but that's another story

Anyway, my hooning took me past a nice little memorial by a village green, so I stopped and took a pic, and here we are :)

Does the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge count?

Edit - Fucksticks. That'll teach me to not answer the phone before hitting submit.
