Also what fueling issues did yous have before you got your ecu's flashed?
None at all. But euro 4 bikes are notoriously lean, so adding a de-cat system wouldn't be wise without changing fuelling
Wow, I've missed a few posts it seems- You going de-cat? - I thought you didn't want loud (although yeah I know, wants change daily in Weeksy world )
Well this was always a thought as you know, watching some videos of the noise it seems OK.
However that said... I did decide to cancel the exhaust today after all. But i have still got the ECU on it's way for desrestricting and fuelling map for standard exhaust.
I weighed all the thoughts up and you know what, i'm not sure it looks any better than the MT09 as it is. In the ideal world i would still prefer the XSR900 system, but i'm not seeing that as a viable option long term with coatings.
The ECU arrived back today, which considering i only took it to the post office on Saturday is pretty impressive.
It's not a complex job to put it back together.
As potentially expect it did throw up the engine management light, but happily the Yamaha code reader also arrived today at the same time and the error was quickly cleared. No EML any more and the bike starts and runs fine.
Sadly due to my aversion to riding in ice and rain, it's not going to be tested for quite some time i think !

Superfast turnaround.
I'll be in the same boat when my forks arrive back. It's either icy or raining here,so nothing to be gained from piddling about it that kind of weather.
Did the ecu have the Euro4 anti tamper screws? I've heard some folk being charged extra when they rock up to the dyno and it's a faff to liberate the ecu.

the ECU isn't even bolted in, the cabling holdis it in place. No screws at all to remove the ECU (well there are on the tank etc as you need to lift the tank)
Was lying in bed and pondering in something, when I was getting the full system map installed the tuner said " disconnect the lambda sensor" so I mailed him to check if that was the case with the standard map too, which has clearly now been done.
Right, last chance... I've been dwelling on this all winter now.
But the MT09 exhaust just doesn't look correct in my book, so i've bought a nearly new XSR900 system and will sell the MT09 to recoup the costs. This does mean i have the crappily coated one as spares, if this fails, i'll get that one coated by someone who can do a better job this time.
I think if someone is winter using it and doesn't clean it off etc then yes.... but if you're picky and live in Cali then you're OK. So i'm hoping with a bit of ACF50 and me looking after it and using on dry days it should last sufficently well.
I think I know what the answer is this is going to be
The one you had coated looked like it got chipped by stuff being flung up by the front wheel, so what about a fender extender to help this one look good for longer?

TBH the days of me being massively worried about finite details like that are long gone, i'll happily accept things these days like long back plate hangers that once upon a time i'd have frowned upon massively. So i'm not completely against the idea of that, would depend how it mounts etc and if i had to drill the standard item.
But the stock one doesn't seem to chip with whatever coating is used as standard.
I know someone on here was saying the fenda extenda sticky pads didn't work for them and it fell off. But I used the sticky pads on my 690 hugger extenda and so far, touch wood 18 months later it's still attached fine. I did use a lot of pads and clamped it with 3 woodworking clamps for 24 hours. It also fit really nicely with the shape of the OE hugger.
