cycle chain help, need a new one

right i have a 2009 Giant R1 escape road bike https://www.thebikelist.co.uk/giant/escape-r1-2009
, chains needs replacing. i know nothing about cycle chains.

I've used https://www.alpinetrek.co.uk/chain-length-calculator/ to work out what side chain i need (110 links)

now chains come in at 6/7/8 then 9 speed and 11 speed, what is all that??

whats a good chain and a tool to join it??

edit - you may find that once you have a new chain on that the gears slip due to wear on the rear cassette, equally it may not. I normally use 2 or 3 chains to a cassette.

Most chains are 116, you shorten accordingly

6/6/7/9/10/11 signifies how many years you have on the back

I am assuming it has 8 gears 8x4 = 24

It's crazy simple, we're talking 2 minutes here.

Put your bike in the largest gear on the back, then take a photo close up round the rear mech to show where routing goes, you can in theory get it on the wrong side of a splitter, it then won't work. So make sure you've got it right.

Some chains are directional, as are quick-links, but pretty unlikely on an 8 speed... but worth checking.

Shift the front derailleur over the largest chainring, and the rear derailleur on the smallest cog.
Thread the new chain through the front derailleur. It is not necessary to thread the chain through the rear derailleur at this point. Simply wrap the chain around the largest front chainring and around the largest rear cog.
Pull the chain tight, and note the closest rivet where the two could be joined. Keep in mind a chain can only be joined by mating inner and outer plates.
From the closet rivet, lengthen the chain by counting over an additional two rivets (two links), which is a distance of one-inch. Cut the chain at this point.
Remove the chain from the bike and thread it through both derailleurs and join the ends.
Simple and works fine

well i went to fit the new, chain, well remove the old one, the pin in the tool has bent, so when i turn it the pin points off to the side the moves off the pin. I've ordered my self a KMC Chain Tool De-riveter. seems to get good reviews, so hope it stands up slightly better.
