The Portimao express/weapon. Gsxr 750 L3 for Welsh Muffin

Post by weeksy »

Been discussing things over winter with Mrs Weeksy and a decision was made and a bike was found today.

Being collected on Saturday and the reign of the ZX6R is over... The ZX6R was a brilliant brilliant little bike, but i think this is the next logical step.

Our friendly race mechanic raves about them and they do exceptionally well in all test, but i also think it'll be an easier bike to ride and an easier bike to ride quickly for her too.

It's currently standard but the Quickshifter that was due to go on the ZX6R will be a QS that goes on this instead now.

2013 GSXR 750 L3 with 5500 miles on the clocks.

The best track mod is an Accossato Master cylinder and braided lines.

I'll have a deep and meaningful with Greedy at MSG when it goes in for the QS.

I added braided hose to my reply.

All GSXRs are let down by front brake setup.

Yeah i've read that, i'm not sure how much of an issue for her as she's not a late braking demon. But it's not a complex upgrade.

Standard GSXR has 5 positions for lever. The Accossato has infinite adjustment.

Looks nice and clean (well to me anyway, I know Weeksy will be tutting and getting the clay bar out as soon as it gets home😂). Whats the power/torque differential to the six?

Every GSXR750 I had was a very good bike, from the first 1985, to the last one I had 2002, if I was going to buy a modern bike for trackdays, it's what I'd buy.

I think the last one I had was 129bhp claimed (and felt like it)

That looks like a really good find - relatively unmolested.

Did you buy it from the original owner? If so, see if they still have the OE caps, which would have been black. If they haven't got them and it bothers you, a replacement pair would only run you to under £20 e.g.

Alternatively, Rizoma used to do quite a nice crankcase protector, which replaced the original clutch cap. (I don't know if it's still available.)
