Maybe they're more pronounced on bikes? I've never driven a fast car or one with modes to know. My Volvo S60 d5 is the fastest car I've owned or indeed driven.

Apparently i need to reset the fault codes with an OBDII code reader....

I'm just waiting for confirmation on the specfics, but this is looking to be the sort of thing.

Mt09 exhaust removed today and bike now ready for the Leo Vince when it gets shipped. Snowy here though so not like it'll be leaving the garage.

Well that's interesting

https://www.fz09.org/threads/why-are-pe ... 781/page-7
for example, on a stock '14 09, when you open the throttle grip to 20%, 'std' mode opens the butterflies to about 18%, but in 'b' mode it will only go to 10.5% or so. you'll definitely feel this difference and if you were to put the bike on a dyno and do a part throttle run (instead of 100% which is the norm for dyno runs), you'd see the difference in the torque/power curves.

as you roll the throttle open, 'a' mode will feel more responsive than 'std' which will feel more responsive than 'b' because they're giving you larger actual throttle openings sooner.

The dyno chart above (thanks blkbrd) doesn't show the results the way you explained it.
with the stock ecu mapping, 'b' mode only opens the throttle butterflies to 70% even if you turn the throttle to the stop. the reason why the power curves are identical between 'std'/'a' and 'b' modes until about 6k rpm is because the engine's breathing isn't being choked when the throttles are only open to 70% until the revs are past 6k.

'a' and 'std' power curves are identical because they both give 100% throttle when you ask for it, and the dyno runs are done at full throttle.

notice that last 30% of throttle butterfly opening only gives about 10hp.

And this is more!
Yes, has a top speed limiter which kicks in at 10,000 rpm in 5th and 8500rpm in 6th

Its interesting that it actually restricts opening at low revs.

The bit about twist grip position vs. butterfly opening is what I was referring to. Every vehicle I've driven with different modes does that, as I said I find after a very short while my brain dials it out and I just open the throttle more/less to compensate.

For example in my car the default Eco mode means the first 3/4 of pedal movement does only about 1/3 of the throttle to encourage sedate driving. Sport mode is almost the opposite. However after driving for more than about 10 mins in either mode I find they're the same. Full throttle is the same in either mode.

If the computer actually stops you getting full throttle then no amount of compensation is gonna make up for it.

Put the akra carbon on my 19 plate over Christmas. Just trying to decide where to get the ecu flashed. Needs to be a postal due to where I live but don't mind paying more for one made specific for the model and exhaust. Any suggestions?

https://www.wizperformance.co.uk/produc ... -ecu-flash

That's who i've used along with another guy on here and several over on the FZ09/MT09 forum.

There used to be a guy locally who Tricky used for his MT10 called S-Tec, but he's now retired and no longer does them. Wiz gets good reports from people who've used him, so that's who i went for

P3 tuning up near/in Liverpool also get good reports.

Perfect thanks for the info! Wonder what the price or flash difference is between the wiz and P3

£50. Wiz are £150 + post, P3 seem to be £200 but i don't know if that includes post or not.

I wouldn't even begin to know the answer to that. I doubt it though. In theory they'll both have needed a bike that they've done manually on the dyno, then use that as the base custom map. Another option of course would be to get hold of a bike that has the custom map from somewhere then extract that map, but i doubt that would be ethical, so i'm guessing not.

They have to pay £83 of their money to Woolich, who own the 'key' to your ECU which allows the modifications.

Yeah getting the bike on the dyno would have been ideal. Unfortunately no places remotely close in the North of Scotland.

Ah I didn't know that, both wiz and P3 need to pay Woolich to do the flash?

It's classed as the key to unlock your ECU facilities.

However if you were for example to want say the blipper, you wouldn't need a 2nd key.

None at all. But euro 4 bikes are notoriously lean, so adding a de-cat system wouldn't be wise without changing fuelling

Wow, I've missed a few posts it seems- You going de-cat? - I thought you didn't want loud (although yeah I know, wants change daily in Weeksy world :D )
