2021, riding mileage and updates

Post by Bigyin »

I am only posting this as i looked in the 2020 thread and there are new posts for this year ;)

Done about 60 something miles in 3 rides so far this year , 2 on the roads and one off road on the dunes and mud as the bike got covered in shit so properly cleaned down as brakes, gears and shifters were all sticking

I'll try and play more here than i have in the past but most of my riding is locally on a few routes i know work depending on wind conditions and weather

so crack on boys and girls......what have you been up to ?

Cold and chilly local one yesterday.

Today would normally be the day out, but got a few plans later, so it's skate-park in the morning @ 9am and then we'll maybe have the new Zwift bike to test later.

Not saying it was cold on the Sarf Dahns this morning (for the unexpected commute from Lewes to Brighton as otherwise it was “bus wanka”), but I could swear in the field alongside the cycle lane I saw a load of AT-AT’s assaulting a Rebel Base.😁🥶❄️🧊

There is only the Old Coach Road under the Downs and the return over the top of the Downs back to Alfriston local to me that is just muddy rather than a quagmire but they deliberately keep about 200yrds of the Old Coach Road flooded and boggy to stop the 4x4’s and motorbikes using it too much. The forest is a horrendous mess at the moment, even the fire roads are very sticky in places.

Went for quick blast, wanted to hit some of the hills in north London. Did Alexandra palace twice, Highgate and swains lane. Great fun 😂😂😂

Finally got the last bits to repair SWMBO'ed winter Ebike, (lets ignore the 2 hours spent taking it to bits again, trying not to have a Donald Duck tantrum and reassembling it twice while I worked out that the motor won't assist with the bike upside down.........I am such a stupid idiot on occasions). Went for a test ride, it was a bit muddy and I think the dog hates me now.

12 Mile commute on the road bike, into a head wind along the A27 cycle lane between Lewes and Falmer but managed an average HR of 150 and knocked just over a minute of my PB for the commute.

Had a great ride today, we had sun, felt so good. Busted out my new shades as well. Went to Epping and then back through town.

yeah, the sun really helped, so nice to finally feel some warmth whilst out riding, over Christmas/new year it was bitter.

My rides are pretty boring with no real points of interest to photograph etc

Suffice to say i am doing about 20 miles every 2 or 3 days on the MTB on road trips and the occasional venture into the local sand dunes and trails ... i will try and document things a bit more

This was a ride along the coastal dunes and fecking freezing at minus 2 wind chill temps
