Recuitment agencies that ring you and say " I saw your C.V. on ..................... such and such's website, and I think you'd be a great fit for this role, insert *You'd be good for getting my commission, and I don't really GAS what you're looking for/where you live*
After you've requested the job spec, and asked a few pertinent questions that you'd really really like the answer to, and are quite important to you, you hear nothing back. What a bunch of time wasting muppets!
I dealt with one at the back end of last year. He rang me and after speaking to him, it was obvious he had read ALL of my C.V. and checked out my LinkedIn profile too. He was a rare breed. He got me an interview within a week, and although the job wasn't for me, I definitely had the skill set they were looking for, and the qualifications, it just wasn't right for me. He definitely was one of a kind, and thoroughly professional. A rare breed.
A lot of recruiters don't get that you DON'T want any job going, and especially not the one that they're trying to shoehorn you into.
Earlier last year, one emailed me directly with very basic details of a job, and asked me if I was interested. When I emailed him back to ask if he had a full job description he replied *NO*, I replied NO THANKS, no job spec, I'm not interested. Where do they find these individuals.

Appraisals. Dunno who came up with this idea, but come the revolution...
Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
It is one of the great advantages of contracting, I haven't had an appraisal in 10 years and I earn more than I would if I was a permie

Another recruiter yesterday.
An email arrives addressed as *Dear..... the town I live in, county I live in*. I saw this job and thought you'd be a really good fit.
Oh really? You mean you let the automated system select me based on a few key words contained within my C.V. such as fire safety. The job had nothing to do with my particular skills, qualifications or experience, and wasn't based even close to where I live.
Wow, the cockiness and laziness beggars belief!

I think I mentioned this at the old place, but as we're slating recruitment agencies.....
Recruitment agencies that advertise jobs that don't exist, just so they can have you 'on their books'.
It would appear that anyone can set up a recruitment agency and it would appear that lots and lots of people have. More recruitment agencies than candidates and jobs !

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I need to find some parts for my transit. I can't put in the registration on French sites (obviously!) but I can't read the VIN number from the copy of the V5 I scanned to the computer (and the V5 is in the van and its -10 outside and I have wet hair so not going out; then need an early night because of tomorrow - see below )
If I go to Europarts.co.uk I can find everything I need
Can I copy the part numbers to europarts.fr?? Can I fck
If I add to shopping cart in .co.uk and then change to .fr (a button on the website to allow you to do that) it sodding well empties the cart - and then I can't find the vehicle
Sadly I don't understand the numbers/letters bit on the 'description' on these sites enough to pick mine - made worse by the fact that none of the sites think there is a Mk7 ???
FFS
Job for the weekend as I have to be on a train at 6.30 tomorrow, instead of leaving resort at 8am earliest, to get to Grenoble for an appointment with the infection lady. And won't be back to the valley till 15:35 so home by about 16:35 (by the time I've parked and walked home etc)

The part numbers are different so the search bit doesn't work. I'll try again at the weekend when less pissed off!! LOLYorick wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:59 pmHave 2 tabs open in browser. BYP doesn't even come close.
I bought a Dell Inspiron last year. The weekend before last I got a critical error - cpu fan defunct. Last Tuesday it went back to PC World/Currys for a repair under warranty. Today I get it back and it has 17 deep scratches on the case that it didn't have before. Phoned them - they said the engineer who repaired it logged the damage on receipt so it wasn't their fault. I swore a lot. Told them they had monkeys working for them. They are picking it up again on Thursday for an inspection and they may still claim they are not responsible for the damage. I understand they have a duty of care and the guy who collected it should have taken any pictures of damage there and then. They told me that I didn't need to put it in anything when I handed it to them and that the driver would have a specific box to put it in.

Time for an update.Supermofo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:34 pm
So I call Chips Away again and still waiting for a reply. I text matey and say don't come today as I've lost faith and I want to see what chips away say.
Matey turns up anyway and says let me have a go at polishing it. I say no. He says let me try and then see.
So against my better judgement off he goes. 1.5 hours later he's done. And its still not right. Its much better but as this goes on I'm getting more into looking.
So there's still a slight line at the bottom of the panel where there's a join in the paint. In places the finish is still mottled/pitted along the top of the wing, top of wheel arch and bottom of the panel. A glance and you'd probably not notice but once seen is hard to unsee. Here's a small example
Then I'm looking at the bottom of the A pillar and see this chip out of the paint. Presumably where he re-finished it and whilst polishing its come away. Might be hard to see in pics but given this is a 3rd attempt I'm not happy with it.
Then at the front of the wing is a paint run.
So he's said another rep will contact me. At this point I want to talk to chips away first. I had a small dent (which you can still tell was there but not terrible) now I think I need the wing redoing. Not sure if I'm expecting too much? But wasn't expecting to so obviously tell its been done
Got an email just before Xmas from Chips Away head office saying they've passed my details on to Chips Away St Albans who have a body shop. They phone me the same day and ask if I can bring the car in between Xmas and new year. They were officially closed but the bloke lives close by and said he'd rather get it sorted ASAP. I took it over on the 29th and he confirmed it was a pretty bad job, plus you can still see where the original dent was in certain lights. He said it needed the dent re-sorting and then the wing re-sprayed completely. They contacted me on Fri to book me in, they need the car for the day and Chips Away are paying. They have a full body shop including an oven to cure the paint.
So hopefully it'll be sorted properly fingers crossed.

The daughter of the family I work for in winter is Cecilia, she's only 12 and is a nice polite kid.
So maybe your post should read "everybody I've encountered called Cecilia" !??

Spell check.
I've become spoilt, I've got so used to 'the computer' telling me I've spelt something incorrectly and giving me a list of suggestions to what I did mean. Now I'm dissapointed when it doesn't know what I meant, particularly when I'm only 1 letter out !!
Yeah, yeah yeah, 21st century girl problems
