Decided I'd go for progressive wound springs. I used these once before in a sv650 and found them great for a commute on our potholed roads. Hopefully i'll be as pleased with these ones. I'm increasing the air gap and using 10wt oil as per the spring manufacturers (Wirth) recommendations. Worth bearing in mind, i'm looking for a comfy, compliant ride, bnot sports set up, although I did consider a set of SuperCorsas and heading out to Portimao to show you guys a thing or two!

Will do, but the goal isn't to make it handle better, just give a more compliant ride over London's potholed roads. Front end is hideous as it is, really jars you over mall bumps. Back isn't great but doesn't annoy me like the front end does. It probably will if I get the front end sorted though. We need a D'oh smiley!

Chain guard has arrived but I've lost the shock protector! Anyway, thought i'd take the hugger off and get the chain guard on, but by fook its cold out there! Fortunately the wife has found me some indoor jobs to do for now. Ho hum!

I did intend to wash the bike but its too cold to go dipping my hands in buckets of water, so I wimped out and left it!

Can't say I blame you one jot. Cold water and cold weather bike washing is no joy at all.

iirc hosing it off with cold water is better than a proper hot water bucket wash in the winter because cold water doesn't dissolve the road salt into all the nooks and crannies.

If I was still riding in winter it'd be Sdoc or similar, back in for a tea, then jet wash and done. My German's are far too sensitive for winter scrubbing. I've even taken to marigolds occasionally.

With my Winter bikes,I ACF50ed them in November and washed them in the Spring. Periodic topping up with ACF did the job,bugger that Winter washing game.

I decided getting the shock protector dirty so it matches the rest of the bike is a better option than cleaning the rest of the bike to match it.

My centre stand bracket, which is needed to fit the Fakerapovic, is in Customs waiting to be released to Royal Mail. I wish they'd get on with it, Coventry Bastards!

Guy I used to know suggested adding vinegar to the final rinse, to counteract any salt left behind!

Looks like a Powerlet/Hella continental style DIN socket as used on BMWs.



Possibly fitted for heated clothing? Adaptors are available to convert to SAE or USB for example.
