Well I'm not dyslexic and I understand every message you post on here.
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Re: Wjy my ateis mymate
Someone is dyslexic and he understands every message I send to him?
If that's it then good one

Ah @Count Steer already figured it out. This is like crystal maze

I find that a very interesting observation. Seriously. I wonder what the mechanism is, and if it could be useful in helping people with dyslexia…

It would be interesting to tie it into the work on transposed letter effect and 'typoglycemia'.
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.
(There actually hadn't been research at Cambridge

Re: Wjy my ateis mymate
I'm a bit dyslexic, I found out when I learned to touch type - used the correct finger but the wrong hand and Then realised I had issues with b & d and p & q - numbers are different , they quite often get blocked before I even write them, they just don't come out of my brain and I have to think about it too long!!Count Steer wrote: Fri Jul 17, 2026 7:23 amIt would be interesting to tie it into the work on transposed letter effect and 'typoglycemia'.

But the main thing is how I read - I struggle to read every word in a paragraph/book, I read by the shape of the paragraph and sort of the words.
So what CS wrote makes easy reading to me. What ..... writes is a smidge more difficult !!
Weirdly, reading is one of my main relaxing things (easiest is a book but the paperwhite Kindle is good too - screen in general I struggle with documents and have to print them), I am very aware I don't "see" every word
Downside was that sometimes I'd miss an important word in the scan and then have to go back a page to work out why I'd lost the thread
It does make learning to read in French a real bastard cos I don't know the shapes of the words (50+ years of practice in English!!!) - I don't have another 50 years to learn the french forms

Re: Wjy my ateis mymate
I shall quote this in my defence. I read voraciously, and have zero problems with that, but my spelling (as some of you may have noticed) is crap. However I do get the first and last letters correct, and most of the ones in between are there, not necessarily in the right order.Count Steer wrote: Fri Jul 17, 2026 7:23 amIt would be interesting to tie it into the work on transposed letter effect and 'typoglycemia'.
