IIRC you consulted Claude or similar about the indicator problem?

If so I make that 1-0 to the electrical engineer and AI is relegated. :D

There's hope for humankind yet.

Yes, I did consult Claude. He/she/it just confused the hell out of me and I just gave up on it for months. Nul points to AI and big thumbs up to human with basic testing kit, lots of experience and knowing exactly where to look.

I've been vaguely aware that a coolant/antifreeze change on the Falco was well overdue for quite a while now. The last time it was changed was quite a few years pre-Covid, so today I bit the bullet and got on with it. Before that I decided to do a pH test on the old coolant, just to see how bad it was. This was the result:

To me that corresponded pretty much with 7 (pH neutral) which was a relief as the coolant wasn't actually acidic. Then I did a test on the new coolant I was about to put in the bike and that gave a reading that was only just about one step more alkaline, as shown below:

So is pH testing a useful way to decide if coolant is still doing its job or not?

Things are (at long last) moving forwards with the Black Falco. It now has the tank fitted and plumbed in, the front fairing panels fitted and the rear cowl is just awaiting the arrival of an eBay tail light after I discovered the current on has a bit broken off. The LH fork leg has had its seal replaced and it's no longer a leaker. It's actually starting to look like a motorcycle rather than something that's being broken for spares. Judge for yourself:
