Re: Robot lawn mowers, anyone got one?
A few days back I found myself going around a roundabout in the Spanish town of Olot.
I could see a little robot mower docked to its station. It was painted to look like a ladybird.
What a neat idea I thought, no closing lanes to ensure the safety of humans getting on and mowing the roundabout, then I started to worry what would happen if it went wrong and ended up on the road causing an accident?

I guess the docking station is pretty securely mounted and the mower is no use without it.

Or it has a safety/anti-theft device built in. If it moves outside the perimeter of the roundabout it explodes violently.KungFooBob wrote: Tue Jul 14, 2026 3:24 pmI guess the docking station is pretty securely mounted and the mower is no use without it.

Maybe.
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

The majority of them have built in alarms that go off if you lift them without punching in the PIN code after x amount of seconds. The Husqvarna ones from 10 years ago had that so nowadays they’ll be even better and more secure.
