Happy NBD!

Post by MyLittleStudPony »

I bought a bike. Mainly as my (full?) NCB was about to expire as I hadn't used it for nearly two years.

Anyway, it's a c.20 year old CBR600f. Pretty standard and very clean. It has a high bar conversion which appeals to an old grifter like me. It was done recently and has all the original parts included.

I'm really pleased with it. I haven't ridden it yet. Or even started it. But I think the weather might be good tomorrow so I might go out on it. Maybe gan it up on t'back wheel.

I think it's my third or fourth CBR600. The previous one I bought from Couchy, which was a similar year and also very low miles and clean.

Great bikes. I like the bar conversion.

Years ago I bought a jellymound CBR in boxes. It was in a hell of a state, but only a few hundred quid,so I took on the challenge. When it came to firing up time I was amazed it started on the first push of the button and the engine was so quiet it made my Kawa sound like it was done.
I'm no Honda fan,but they make some fine bikes and the 600 is one.

Happy new pony day,Pony.

I like the colour.

Reminds me of the US model Grey/Black 954 Fireblade that Honda UK didn't bother importing, but was probably the best colours it came in.

I thought of you when my Dad showed me this Ad from the local KTM dealers. That's a steal of a price. I'm actually pretty tempted as a winter bike at that money. Riding position is supposed to be fairly challenging though.

That CBR is in lovely condition, perfect for a use occasionally bike as hopefully it'll be no bother.

I'd be up for trying it, but too difficult/expensive to import I suspect :(

Mind you, I rarely have an issue with fugly bikes, but this one would be a challenge!! Now the CBR

Thanks folks.

I am pleased with it. It is really clean and tidy.

I took it out for a quick blast. It handles very nicely and has plenty of go. I like the bars. I don't like the clutch biting point though. And there's not enough on the bar adjuster to sort it, so I think I'll have to take the fairing side panel off to get to the main adjuster down by the clutch actuating arm.

Good bikes but for some reason I've never got on with them.

It's gone. Sold. I even made a ha'peth of gruel out if it, like a right rough old scrimper.

I never used it. And winter under a cover didn't do it any favours.

I think that was my fifth CBR600f.

I had a similar one recently from Couchy which was spot on, but I didn't use it so I sold it.

I had two of the CBR600f Sport models from about 2000/2001. One, somewhat remarkably, was a new bike prize from work, for doing well. Which I sold into the trade without riding it. The other was the same model, about five years later. That one I think had had damage to the rear panels and I sold it on. I did put a Givi plate on the pillion seat for a top box (a bit of a botchy bolt job) and toured somewhere, maybe Scotland on it first.

There was also a post 90' Steelie (or maybe two?!). Bought too late and all the bearings were a bit sloppy
