Got my release date (well, got it yesterday) so I leave Friday morning to go home, and already have an rdv with my physio in the valley for Friday afternoon !

Downside is that I did way too much the weekend and for the first time my knee is really uncomfortable/hurty. But it's because the insides were so busted up that it always swells up internally, and too much walking/moving not very well means more swelling - I also didn't have any cold pack at home, or bags of peas, so couldn't do anything about the swelling at the time :(

But - I will be at home from Friday :) :) :) :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers:

First ever hotel fire alarm. Just finished getting dressed and deciding if there was anything I desperately needed to save and it got cancelled.

Stuck my head out to a corridor full of confused people on pajamas, speculated that some cunt was probably smoking in their room, wished them good night and got back into bed. FFS. At least I wasn't asleep to start with 🤣

Well. Release date. I am in the equivalent care in the community 🤣🤣🤣

So I shopped on the way home. Then went to physio. Had to go to the pharmacy on the way home (this centre doesn’t give you a few days of meds to tide you over, you have to go get everything on the first day) 🤣🤣

The French are funny. I can have a months worth of paracetamol and pretty much any other drug, including opiates (although I did only ask for two weeks worth!) but you can’t have more than ten days of anti inflammatories 🙄🙄. And for those ten days they get pretty antsy when you refuse the « stomach protecting » drug (basically an antacid 🙄) 🙄🙄. I mean, I only ever take them with a meal so that’s fine. Just weird that anything else you can get like smarties, but an anti inflammatory 😳😳😳 nooooooo 🙄🙄🤣🤣

Image

After being upright at the pharmacy for aaaages while everything was sorted, I stupidly decided to go buy an ice cream at the supermarket - forgot that the freezer is at the back ☹️☹️

So there’s still a bag in the car, my knee is a bit grumpy, I’m knackered - I’ve walked 2.5km today, veeeerrrrrryyyy slowly! - seen physio and now think I need to go to sleep 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Busy day so far with more to go.

So far been to butchers, supermarket, Screwfix, Greggs (coffee only), kiln dried log store and petrol station. Also ordered a lawn levelling rake for delivery later today from Amazon.

Two loads of laundry washed and first load line dried, half rack of pork ribs have been rubbed ready for smoking later, porchetta prepped and currently air drying in the fridge (to be roasted in the pizza oven tomorrow with oak log fire).

Next up, short cutting of the front lawn before scarifying and raking. I’ve bought some huge bin bags to bag up and clear the expected mountain of detritus, I’m hoping most will end up in the garden wheelie bin, I’ll have to book a tip run for the remainder. I’ll be attempting to level and reseed the lawn with a home blend of washed sand, topsoil and compost tomorrow.

Assuming the sunny weather lasts the rest of the afternoon, I’ll be splitting some oak logs and prepping some bags of kindling for the pizza oven and log burner (for the winter months).

In 2 hours, I bagged up 7 x 100l bin bags of thatch, moss, weeds and grass clippings from a 50sqm lawn. The wheelie bin was full after 2 bags worth.

The Screwfix el cheapo scarifier has done a cracking job, it’s just a shame the collection bag is woefully fully small.

Stripped the carb on the log splitter.

Blew the jets clear with the compressor (suspected needle jet blockage). Put it back together. Fuel leak = sorted.

Changed the oil while I was on.

Made a Shepherd's Pie. Made an apple crumble. Ate them.

Washed the ST, blasted the SBH with the pressure washer, pressure washed around the pool & the driveway on the side of the house.
Ate rum & raisin Haagen Dazs.
Dozed off in a chair.
Woke up feeling like I'd been folded into a tea chest.
Ate 2 Advil
...& a Benadryl, something is making my forearms itch.

Sat in a field with some neighbours and watched the RAF Cosford air show.

A few hours of gentle day drinking, cheese and charcuterie scoffing, and I have proper caught the sun 😬

Figured out the itchy forearm issue... It's been going on a few days. It's from that epoxy paint I sprayed on the GPz750 carbs a few days ago.
Advil kicked in, now having a tuna/cuke sarnie.

I hate Moss with a passion. FWIW i have started to just leave the mower cuttings on my lawn rather than binning them. It has reduced my moss and grass is growing back more lush. OK in patches just now but its only been a few month. You dont see much moss in council fields/parks and they never pick up after themselves.

It was a flying visit for work, less than 24 hours. Still, I got to have a decent steak (Los Amigos, nr Haymarket), and the sun mostly shone ☀️
