DVLA! Went online to remove my private plate and they say it can't be done online due to its licensing history, and i have to download a v317and send it with the V5C and cheque or postal order for £80! It takes around 4 weeks. Well, that kills any sale or p/x deal and wtf uses cheques or postal orders in this century! :angry-cussingblack:

I had the same a couple of years ago, IIRC it took around a week or slightly more. It worked in my favour at the time as I was doing a retention and adding another private plate so registered the new one as soon as the new V5C and retention cert came back and I only need to tell my insurer about one change rather than two.

At the time I thought it was a PITA having to pay a premium to the post office for a postal order.

I wrote a cheque just last week. I asked my grandson to let me know his bank details so I could transfer money for his birthday. He didn't, so I put a cheque in with his birthday card.

I got a cheque book when I changed banks in 2017 and I've used 18 so far.

Most banks will still give you a cheque book if you ask. Why wouldn't you get one unless you like paying the postal order premium?

The Stream Racket Company.

The adverts they're showing on prime time TV promoting trips to the IoM.

There's a biker couple, both in full kit, it's implied that they're both on holiday in the IoM, on a Panigale, but it's a single seat model!

I haven't needed to write a cheque in 30 years, but now I do, It turns out my Step f-i-l has a cheque book and he'll write one for me.

Theres other implications with insurance etc. How do I know when to tell my Ins Co that the reg has been changed? I feel I'm running the risk of being uninsured at some point?

You need to tell the insurance company about change of registration when you are in receipt of the new V5C as in theory, you can’t get the new plates made without it.

Car Insurance.

Another claim free year so I thought the premium would go down a little. Instead it went from £465 last year to £711 this year. Up by over 50%!!

They obviously don't want my business so I've switched to another insurer for £410.

Taxi drivers.

Just took the Suzuki for quick test in full levvers to check all OK.

Went quiet side of town with just 1 hotel on the way.
Suddenly a Taxi pulls out.

Shiiiiiiiiit

10 yards away. Hit horn and he reacted and pulled to right
The ABS let me steer and brake and just missed him
I think my knee slider hit his wing

Super proud of my reaction times but was really shaken
Stopped in road and screamed at him

My heart was racing and knowing I was so close to not getting the ferry tmrw and losing a shitload of money.

He was very apologetic and seemed genuine.
Doubt he'll do it again.

Calming down now a bit

Any time I'm approaching an intersection, driveway, cars parked on the side of the road and any similar lemming laden area, two fingers on the front brake, front of boot over the back brake, a little decrease in speed so you're already to stop or swerve around them. Well before I'm near them I do a bit of a weave back and forth to draw attention to myself (google motion camouflage) to increase the odds that I've been spotted. But never count on anything other than them not seeing you.

I've heard that a neighbor pointing a laser at the blinds when you're not around has that effect.... ;)

Not sure? not SURE, so he does have 'an' idea??

Smart enough to be at uni but not smart enough to stage it being hit in while parked !

100% - no sign of any of the broken glass or plastic at the alleged scene, whatever he'd hit it was hard enough to bend the chassis leg around 20mm!

Replacement wing and headlight fitted, chassis leg pulled back to position'ish and bumper bodged using CT1 - just needs a replacement front coil spring and a tyre now.

Attended a meeting where 3 people read out their power point slide as they scrolled through. FFS, you could have just emailed us them and I'd not have lost an hours production time. At least present as a person and send the PPT slides on later for future reference.

Just glanced at what 'delights' are on the idiots box tonight. FFS, a programme dedicated to the 2006 world cup.

I dislike football, but raking over why we lost a match 20 years ago is OTT even for a football fan!
