As a rough estimate, it wouldn't be surprising if as many as 1 in 8 adults are legally armed at any given time, though there isn't comprehensive data to confirm that figure.

If firearms make you uncomfortable, consider this: in a crowded public space, there's a good chance that at least one person within 50 feet of you is legally carrying a firearm even in places with "No Guns" signs.

And yet, you probably never notice, and nothing happens.

That's because the overwhelming majority of legally carried firearms remain holstered, unseen, and uneventful throughout ordinary daily life.

Why do people always want to ban 'stuff' ( guns, knives, etc)?

A) it never solves the problem.
B) Criminals take little notice of laws.
C) It distracts from the real problem.
D) It causes a heap of work policing this new law and confiscating shit.
E) The people that are affected are the law abiding ones who were never the problem.

I used to have 3 pistols. The only thing they ever threatened were targets. I often carry an (illegal) lock knife. The law is stupid, a knife that locks is inherently much safer to use than one that doesn't.

Yebbut that ignores the post hoc rationalisation process eg...

'I want to carry a gun, therefore gun carrying can't be a problem' - *hunt for any dodgy info online which, if squinted at in a poor light might just,with a liberal dousing of confirmation bias might, nearly, possibly support what I want to do. Then post links on social media*.

A few may be reconsidering those choices. According to the BBC today:

The average price of a gallon of petrol in the US stood at $4.24 on Thursday, according to the AAA motoring group. That is up from $2.98 on the day the US and Israel began striking Iran.

NB for comparison, we're around £7.25 a gallon - but we get 20% more, so around £6 a US gallon.
