Two things over this week and both a bit surprising to me !!

First off, my usual early week physio and the thursday replacement have both commented that I have strong leg muscles !! Well, I've never thought of that in anyway; in fact, never really thought they were strong! But apparently, the muscles from mad amounts of horse riding and cycling in my formative years have probably just about been kept active from trackdays and then basic skiing and touring!! Now I know they are there and 'strong' (!!) I feel I need to make more effort to keep them

The other thing was, my spazzy sports physio gave me an exercise to do ages ago that I did sitting (for obvious reasons!). Yesterday I did it standing because I can now stand up :) So, weights in each hand and bend to lower the weights close the to floor, then stand back up again. It's basically a yoga move that I've done on and off for years to loosen my back muscles a bit when tense.

So there I am getting the weight on the left actually to the floor (well the back of my fingers whilst holding the weight) and the right one almost.

He called across that I was really supple      Yeah right!!

I am so not a bendy person, but he then did the same bend and his hands were probably mid shin :o so I laughed and acted shocked and said "but you're a healthy physio, how can you not touch the floor?" - at which point the other two physios, girls, did the same and got to the same point as him !! :o :o

Pretty sure they weren't pretending!! So that made me feel pretty good cos I've been able to touch the floor with the back of my left hand for years, well, when my knee isn't broken  (the right arm doesn't 'hang right' so I can usually only get finger tips down on that side!).

So, despite feeling fat (gained some weight due to shit food and sitting down for all of 7 weeks and most of the last 3), broken and royally fed up with it all, these two things did cheer me up a bit!!! LOL :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Which, along with the fact that I've just ironed a linen shirt for a weekend barbeque, means I've jinxed it and it'll piss down all weekend. Sorry.
I was happy because I ordered the bits in time to bring the portable aircon in from my now unused garden office, all set up and although it hasn't turned the house into a fridge it has made it much more bearable.
Also happy because the smart plug says it's costing 16p an hour to run, I thought it would be higher than that.

Listening to the BBC Sounds Pacesetter podcast as I ran along the riverside, the final track as I completed the planned 6 miles...

.... I'm still standing by Elton John :D

Harsh but fair observation ;)

Right now Lanzarote 22 and 40% humidity, London is 23 and 60% humidity. If we had Lanzarote weather we wouldn't need aircon.

We all open the windows and doors and enjoy the constant breeze.

YOu see that's where your logic all falls down. On weeks like this in the UK we don't get the same sea breeze you get, we don't get the nights where the wind blows a bit and cools the place down. We don't have buildings that are built and designed to both reflect heat and keep the building cool through things like stone flooring.

So whilst the temps may be similar, the whole thing is completely different.

It's 32ºC+ here - last time I looked, the conservatory was 46º even with the doors open.

(Front porch is currently getting the sun and the mini-weather station says 35º and 36 r/h).

The pond is looking a tad depleted. :(

Probably needs to be in pleasing purchase, but I didn't, and it has made me very very happy!!!!

I've had a thought to buy a usb coffee maker for work for a while, but it seemed excessive as I don't do long distance (yet).

But here I kept trying to persuade myself, but then I have to sort out getting some decent coffee etc etc

I must have mentioned it in an email to my mum and bizarrely, she not only bought one but posted it from the UK to here :o :o :o

So I had a coffee after my lunch!!!! (She also put in some nespresso pods and some coffee 'bags' as she wasn't sure if it needed ground or pod! It takes either :) )

I am not insignificantly happy - I am extraordinarily happy. One because I now have a mobile usb coffee maker. But the big thing is - my mother bought it and sent it! We haven't ever had an easy relationship and rarely a good one. So it's pretty awesome that she did this (they aren't cheap and postage was £16 !!)

I will be popping to the shop on friday afternoon to try and find some mild coffee pods and will be asking the coffee roaster in Bourg if they'd be willing to post me a packet of my favourite coffee :bblonde: :bblonde:

Just had lunch with my cousin. Forgot how close we are. Only seen her at weddings and funerals in last 25 years, but we were super close before that

Was lovely to chat freely. I can tell her anything and she knows more about me than anyone else.

Might be flying to uk to have a little time with her

I work from home Fridays, which is also bin day, so I don't need to set an alarm as the bin men always wake me up with their crashing and smashing and shouting. So, this morning they woke me up as usual, and I get out of bed to go and log on and then realise they are a day late as it was a bank holiday on Monday! So I fell back into bed and have just got up.
