I'd promised to spend Easter with my other half and her family that year, but did manage to record some of the races on the box. Haslam rode the wheels off that bike. It was also the year that Merkel and Schwantz appeared and pretty much cleaned up.

Anyone else notice the bike that was in second in the 750 class on the opening post?

An XJ650. I rode one briefly... it really was a very rapid bike. And shaft drive too.

GoBigOrGoHome cameras.
Mind, getting the sound crew on the bike must have been a challenge.

Didn't that jump layout involve faster riders leaping over the 'valley' - sometimes landing on slower riders emerging onto the second rise, resulting in some nasty crashes?
