Indeed! I do normally go for things with big cash alternatives for myself, but cars that are all in like the Volvo, would be gifted to one of my kids, which would take a load off of them while they have to pay all their other bills. That said my daughter has just got herself a nice Merc, so probably wouldn't want it. My Son has no interest in cars at all, and he has now paid off his Fiesta, but he would probably would be glad of anything that stopped him paying tax and insurance on a car?IccyV2 wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 8:06 am Surely you enter competitions for mind blowing stuff that you wouldn’t normally be able to own?

Why not both? Chuck a few quid at something you wouldn't buy then spend money on tax, insurance, servicing or chuck a few quid at something you're likely to buy/need and get it for (nearly) free?
It would be interesting to know if the odds of winning are higher on a 'sensible' car or whether it's all adjusted so it generally works out at the same chance/£.

Fair play, that's exactly what I did earlier this year, we've already moved quite a lot of money over to them but we don't need all the money I earn now so I got them a new car each all paid for by me.Taipan wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 8:26 amIndeed! They're all doing well to be fair and keep telling me to stop it, but I worked hard so I can do this, so it's more for me than them.

TBH the gambling issue was raised on here before, and i was going to stop adding replies on here, but I never like the thought of the innocent paying for the crimes of the guilty, iyswim? Happy for the thread to be deleted if people do think its an issue though?gremlin wrote: Wed May 13, 2026 9:28 am Oi, Tiepin.

It would look very out of place if 'my next military reenactment' was from the English Civil War.

I've mentioned it before after I looked at the terms for a couple of these companies. They are legally and morally dubious but I've little objection as they aren't as bad as the National Lottery.Taipan wrote: Wed May 13, 2026 10:05 amTBH the gambling issue was raised on here before, and i was going to stop adding replies on here, but I never like the thought of the innocent paying for the crimes of the guilty, iyswim?
