Well I do like a polish tomato ketchup, but, no, not today. It was HP Sauce with english mustard on the first one and dijon on the 2nd! 8-)

He didn't have any armour, so we didn't want to be responsible for any damage.
At the first drink stop, it turns out that he's a freelance bike journalist, specialising in long term bike reviews. Also a pro cameraman and film maker.
I've found a video that he showed us. He explained that he filmed it all with a hand-held camera while riding, in Gran Canaria. Then edited and produced it. Clever dude :)

I was intrigued by these and purchased a pair whilst enjoying some wine. Just found out they've landed in the country, so within the next day or two I'll see if my £3.69 investment was a wise one! :D

It's a mega shit, cold, wet and dark day. One for the fire and a warm coffee.

Oo, so basically just glasses but adjustable?

Definitely say if they are any good as I have contacts I can wear for biking and skiing, but they are a pain (especially for skiing) as then I can't read the piste map, my phone or a resto menu

I've done a smidge more organising in the apartment. So much more to do!! Then chilled and read a book till it was time to see the physio

That was a 30 mins of pain I'm not used to. Came home realising that actually I'd forgotten to take any pain meds in the last couple of days!! So am now doped up, and wrapped up with a hot thing over my arm/shoulder!!!

Kinda nice that I managed a few days without, but guess I need to keep a bit of pain meds in me to deal better with whatever is wrong today!! LOL

I do that once in a while & set off on a 200 mile drive. I've discovered that if I'm wearing 14 holer DM's I have fewer issues, some days I can barely drive 5 or 6 miles around town when wearing trainers.

TBH it's so nice that I no longer Need the meds for daily life. But I forget that I do really need them for the rehabilitation! But I'm glad I can cut back a bit overall - been of max levels of paracetamol for far too long!! LOL

Just spent longer than I probably should have laughing at this gem:
I started holidays on the 19th, after a long and tough final quarter and I was looking forward to some much needed QST. However between the holidays, last minute shopping, COVID, etc, I haven't had much in the way of ambition.

Today that changed and I finally got up the nerve to go out to the shop and try to get something done. Clearly this was not the day to try because the following incidences occured:

I intended to help Dad install the new airline kit he received for Xmas. However, while swapping out a faulty quick connect on the compressor, I managed to crack the cheap (white metal?) manifold, rendering the compressor effectively more useless than before. I fortunately had a few parts on hand to rig up a temporary set up until I get around to finding a new compressor manifold that will fit.

Not to let that ruin my day, I figured I would continue and try to get the Suburban tractor running, by bypassing the fuel pump in favour of a gravity feed, so that I could tune the carb.

After completing the bypass, I tried the ignition and nothing. No clicks, nothing turned over, zilch. So I started pulling the dash off to get at the wiring. Under the tractor, I unscrewed the bolts holding the dash. Here's where things went south, even further, and for the life of me I can't figure out how I did this:

As I slid out from under the tractor, 9/16" wrench in hand, I somehow managed to simultaneously catch the open end of the wrench on my nostril, and the box end on the tractor frame, causing a minor nose bleed. Do not ask me how the hell I could manage this, but I did.

Climbing out from under the tractor, I put the battery on to charge and it showed 9 volts. I left the charger on and went for lunch. When I came back, the charger was on, you could hear it humming along, but the voltage wasn't showing a reading anymore. Dad and I pulled the charger apart, but couldn't find a culprit and still can't figure out what the issue is.

Now I have a dead battery, dead charger, and a half torn apart tractor. It's time to kick back on the couch with a whiskey and try again tomorrow.

I binge watched TV last night and had a late morning (for me) so didn't get up until 0730.
I'm on my second coffee now, just had some brie and crackers, and I'm going to nip down to my boat to do some work and hang around the marina chatting shite.

Thrills all day long
Well as it's just about Freezing here and dark, looking like cold sleet all day... Your day sounds far from terrible to me.

I've always been the same, work hard in the morning and hopefully have an easy afternoon.
This is more like work hard now (well, not work hard, just have more responsibility and stress) and retire in my early 50's with enough to enjoy life.

We're all different I suppose, many wouldn't want the hassle, but I don't have a gun to my head, I could step away from it any time I feel like and stack shelves at Asda.
LOL there are middle grounds between being a power monger and a shelf stacker :)

I've been working all through the Christmas holidays, but only cause I'm a nerd and I like doing it :D

I've been using MATLAB software for the first time in about ten years. I used it loads at Uni and in my first few jobs, but my more recent roles haven't needed it/the company hasn't had access to it.

Using this software is making me nostalgic :D

I had to get something from a friends' place. They are on holiday but I collected the keys from a mutual friend. Walked down to find that there is a key code lock on the door as well as the key lock

So I text the girl whose apartment it is - cos FB messenger said she was 'active' (it was about 7.30am in the UK so didn't want to wake her or her hubby up!)

She didn't reply, so I text another friend up here - she said the key code bit was never locked so she didn't know it :o Tried again, definitely can't open door :(

Waited a bit longer. Then text the guy half of the apartment. He was awake (should have text him first really!) and gave me the code - woohoo. Luckily no one had gone past their apartment in the 30 mins I was waiting outside!! LOL

In I go - straight to key rack to pick up key.

Nope, no key there. Text Al and check if I have the right place (don't want to rummage through their apartment to try and find a key!!). He says it should be where I'm looking. Look again and on the shoe rack below it. Nope

Then he said, oh, maybe it's on the dining table!! Woohoooo - key and other bits for the bastard minibus on the table! Finally I can leave! LOL

Lock up and leave, Al texting as I go down the stairs about the snowfall and touring (which I can't do till they've done some pisting  ) then off I go to walk home (20/30 mins, I walk slow in the snow as have been warned strongly about falling on either shoulder!!!). As I'm leaving their car park the phone beeps but I figure he can wait for an answer till I'm back.

Drop off keys with mutual friend, buy nice bread and an eclair (she works in the boulangerie!!) then go get a hot choc from my favourite place. He didn't charge me :) Think it was reciprocal as I'd made him some mince pies for Christmas that he loved :D :D

Sat on a bench in the snow drinking the chocolate and contemplating life in a ski resort with no lifts!! Bloody love living here but the lack of seasonaire friends and lifts for skiing is making things a bit tough!

Got home to find that the last message was from the girl of the apartment asking me to check the post! And telling me I don't need a code, just turn the key a bit further and it releases the code lock  LOL LOL Oh well

So I'm back home and have had some peanut butter on nice bread for breakfast and watching the madness from my window that is cars with inappropriate tyres trying to drive up the slope outside my apartment

The electric heating under the pathway really isn't working!! LOL

The ice rink needs de-snowing!

Yay - voila!! LOL

I still don't quite believe that Christmas is in the middle of summer in Aus.

BTW....Noggins post are making me pine for the snow. I haven't been snowboarding for years now, baby D kinda put the brakes on skiing holidays for a few years! She's 3 now though, which means she's officially old enough to start lessons at SnoZone, conveniently located 5 mins drive from my house :D

I still find it amazing that it's like that there, whilst I'm sat in 25c at the side of my pool, it's like different planets.
All because of a big fiery ball about 90 million miles away.

I'd love to swap you for a day.
I'd only cope with a day or two swap!! Although at the snowy time of year I might cope better where you are. I visited in June the only time I went there and damn I struggled!! I like sun and heat to a point but not really a lying by the pool/on the beach kinda person!

You probably wouldn't want to swap for my apartment tho - your garage would be about 4 times the size or more!! LOL But I can find you somewhere to stay that would fit you both more comfortable!! LOL

But yes, it is weird that we really aren't 'that' far apart and yet so totally different!

I'm pining for skiing!! And I'm here!! LOL

ESF do 'lessons' from 3 years old, but very French (lack of patience in general!!). Depending on where you go next I can recommend good schools for youngsters (well, in the Tarentaise area I can find out, up here I have more knowledge :) )

And I always think it's weird having Christmas in summer! And struggle now at the thought of Christmas in the rain in the UK !!
