Our Vets have just sold up to a “Community Vet group” , which after googling is run by a Private Equity firm. @RSE. The reviews are very mixed but at the first sign of price hikes or pressure sales I’ll be looking for a new vet. 🤬🤬🤬

Principle Place?

Amazon was the first (and only) place I've ever been with Ally McBeal style unisex toilets. The rest of the place was quite underwhelming, I was expecting teleporters and breakout rooms full of playstations, but it was just bland office space.

I am getting sick to death of AI. Google Gemini interpreted a Google meeting invite today, a very standard and obvious email created by Google but Gemini screwed it up.
I'm being offered a funded 2 year AI Engineer course for free, I know most of the stuff already so it would be pretty easy but I just hate the bullshit AI dream being used to sell anything possible.

Went for a BUPA 'Be Assured' health assessment yesterday afternoon. A full two-hour MOT including pre-test questionnaires. I take my heath quite seriously: I average 6/7 gym sessions a week. Mrs. G is utterly focused on nutrition and what we eat is cooked from scratch. We do long walks with the Hound of the Twatville.
And yet, despite me reluctantly taking Ramipril for the high blood pressure I've had on and off for most of my adult life, it sits stubbornly at the high end of the spectrum. Monitor and maybe increase doseage.
Bad cholesterol is now in the high range - I already eat fish, avo, nuts and use extra virgin olive oil - all the right things, apparently. I don't eat processed foods, I rarely fry food in oil. Pushed towards statins, that I really don't want to add to the Ramipril.
It gets worse...
I'm 1.78m and weight 77kg. In real terms that means I take a 32" waist pair of strides. Yet I'm overweight. :wtf: Granted, my one vice is alcohol, but I'd say I go out once a week and a mad night for me would be 5-6 pints. I know that booze sit heavy on the waist, so maybe my one vice needs to become a half-vice. :thumbdown:
In addition, I've been referred to both a cardiologist and neurologist as I've had a few episodes of near-collapse for no apparent reason and memory lapses plus Mrs. G has noticed I'm getting the shakes quite badly at random times.

Despite me best efforts, I'm a fucking wreck. :o

Ramipril didn't work for me. But it pushed my potassium levels into the 'hmm, that's a concern' level. Monitored BP am and pm daily - averages for each week were the same with and without. Binned it.

Amlodipine worked perfectly but left me feeling like a zombie so that got kicked into the long grass too. alpha blockers are now on trial - Doxazosin has the added benefit of treating prostate problems and Reynauds (which causes high BP too) all in one go. (Tamsulosin is preferred for LUTS stuff if patients BP doesn't need lowering).

My theory is that the causes of high BP vary (stress, circulatory - like Reynauds, so alpha blockers, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, beta blockers etc probably work in some cases better than others.

There's hardly a pharmaceutical product out there that fixes one problem without creating a different one or a set of different ones though. :(

My one vice was / is also the booze, which I cut my intake in half to bring it down to within / close to NHS 'guidelines'. It didn't make much difference towards my weight or blood pressure, but did / has tipped me into a 'why bloody bother' funk, giving up everything that's fun, tasty, I enjoy, that makes life bearable only to be still a fat cunt with questionable blood pressure.

I think I'll be called in soon for my pre-diabetic blood test to see how that's gone, I'm eating better / only have one meal a week which is processed (pizza) so we'll see what we see, if the results aren't good there's not a bloody lot else I can give up.

15 months ago when I was really ill I went to see an internalist who wanted 75 blood tests.

All came back perfect. Was well chuffed.
Blood pressure a bit high but nowt to worry about.

I've cut my drinking right back and am surprised at the effect its had on my BP. Now i'm doing weight loss jabs, its come down enough to require a slight adjustment to be made to my meds. :wtf:

Just to be clear, I do like a drink, but I don't drink on a school night and rarely do I drink so much that I feel rough the next day. As I said, a 5 pint session of an evening would see me feeling rough the next day.

I did once cut out beer and switched to G&T for a few weeks which had me drop a few pounds. Fewer calories and less alcohol per drink. Might go that route again.

That said, I do like beer. :obscene-drinkingcheers:

I've done it 23 times and actually enjoy it. After the Xmas excesses, it's nice to have a break.

Still go to local bar and they know what I want.
