Have to be up at 4am for an LAX run.
Roomie's sister in Arkansas is apparently on her last legs so she's headed back there for 10 days to take charge of her medical choices in the ICU as she's not compos mentis, altho may have bucked up a bit today. Not looking good for the sister, raging alky, smokes, ignores health issues, neighbor found her on the floor at her home a few days ago, been there for at least 10 hours.

Today is Holy Eucharist. Spent last night putting in LED cables into the candelabra in the Church, looks good and no dripping oil! Have collected some stuff from the other church for tomorrow's wedding. Was just handed church keys by a good neighbour, one of my team dropped them at the church in the grounds. Was chatting to him yesterday about something else entirely and here he is helping out! The person who was threatening to me a couple of weeks ago is wishing to apologise for their behaviour, so I'll take that as a win.
Have a meeting later this afternoon and evening PCC meeting where I need to let them know of significant news. (Mostly good news).
Working on getting Air Source Heat Pump quotes. Emailed three places, one responded. Need to find two more quotes asap. Just more paperwork!

Requested a 25kV isolation so I could climb on to the top of a train and cut off a damaged part!

I do actually have two bits of that "piano wire strung up in the sky" stuff to deal with (test tracks at Selhurst Depot & Williams Way at Three Bridges). It's always a good question for interviewee's or trainees.v8-powered wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2026 2:17 pmNah, he does that 'South of the river' low voltage stuffKungFooBob wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2026 1:45 pmIs it Ming who turns it off?v8-powered wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2026 1:28 pm Requested a 25kV isolation so I could climb on to the top of a train and cut off a damaged part!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Discovered that a recent windows security update has forced re-entry of bitlocker keys on some devices... Devices I don't have bitlocker keys for.
I've a gpo that makes all the laptops escrow the keys in AD, cos none of the desktops have bitlocker enabled... Except whoever built a batch of HP Deskpros did turn it on and it's those that are fucking up. Ho hum. I've updated the gpo to link to the OU with the desktops in now, but it's closing the gate after the horses have bolted.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Did the LAX run, traffic was bollocks, got home about 7.30.
Discovered that leaving the house at 4.30am instead of 4am adds at least 30 minutes to the driving time.
Got to the airport at 6am, roomie wanted to be there at 5.30 so she was a bag of nerves about missing her flight....
... which wasn't due to leave until 8.05am.
Now she's on the 2nd flight from Vegas to Littlerock, due to land there about 1.30pm (PDT) 3.30pm (CDT).
Her parting words were "There better not be any more motorcycles here when I get back in ten days...."

Funny you should say that. There's a local chap with a bike for sale that I'd like to own, and she's away next week.ZRX61 wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2026 7:41 pm Her parting words were "There better not be any more motorcycles here when I get back in ten days...."![]()

Re: What have you done today thread?
It's more what I didn't do as I was hungover. I was supposed to go and buy a new phone. Then I was supposed to go the coast with the dogs and have lunch, but I didn't do any of these things. To try and save a wasted day by doing something, we were going to go for a midweek carvery, which is apparently only £7, but can't get booked in at a reasonable time. Who knows what other non events the evening will bring!

Woke up looking forward to heading out to Willow Springs, then realized that it's not Saturday. Bugger.
Male pup escaped his crate again last night & was waiting for my outside my bedroom door when I got up. He's learned how zippers work.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I've been MIA for a few days, so
Weds I got ambushed/tricked into having dinner with the other patients on my floor! I'm avoiding the big lunchtime dinning room where everyone goes, but had planned to be brave and join the other on this floor one evening. Well, a guy I did the adaptive sports with the other day knocked on my door a bit before dinner and said that he was going home in the morning would I like to come and join them all for his last evening. Not looking at the clock or anything I figured it was a little chat and then I could sneak away and hide again !!
Nope - it was just as the ladies brought up the dinner trays, and so I ended up having dinner with them all LOL There is a threat (offer?) to add me to the whatsapp group too
I have said I'll give one of them my number to add me but haven't seen her since!!
Apparently Eric (the guy that left) has been checking in and reminding them to knock at my door sometimes to go join them
Anyway - I did go join for lunch today - less people so easier!! LOL
Thursday I had pool therapy again and the physio this time spent a bit of time working on my arm and a bit of neck like my physio at home does - right now my arm/neck and deltoid points are much more hurty than my knee
Excellent news for next week in that one of my seasonaire colleagues is going to see me on his way home on Monday and with luck I can grab a quick coffee with my ex neighbour on Thursday morning as he's coming here to see a doctor, so we are hoping to meet up before I have physio, as long as his taxi is a bit early!!!
And the cross stitch is coming on - slowly but surely. Will post a pic tomorrow (I do the most on it at weekends

Replaced the worn out rollers on the up and over garage door. It was slightly less of a faff than I was expecting, which is always good.
