That's proper crap, seeing another small but valuable business going under.

I notice that Brian from BKS has been quite clever with adapting to changing tastes etc. I remember him really slating textile suits, but to be fair to him, he's gone away, done a load of work and is now producing bespoke textiles suits that are probably some of the best available on the market. If I could afford one, i'd definitely be in the queue to buy one.

BKS were bought by Frank Thomas in 2004 and then by J&S in 2011. IIRC the M2M stuff was still made by proper BKS while the off the peg was made in the same factory as all the other J&S/Frank Thomas brands (but I could be making that last bit up).

That was a separate part of the BKS business. He kept hold of the bespoke stuff, and sold the 'name' for more mass produced stuff. I've been going to the same place for bespoke suits for many years, before they moved to a larger premises recently.

I guess what I'm trying to say id that he's diversified into textile suits to keep himself relevant and (hopefully) profitable. Even though years ago he really didn't want to touch them.

I’m sad to hear about Scott Leathers. I wore their gear for many years, and it was excellent.

But I agree that BKS and Hideout have moved with the times via their textile clothing innovation.

Worth noting that Aldi have sold an EN13595-1: standard Level 2 suit for £140.

Albeit not EN13595, Weise sells an AAA waterproof textile jacket for £279.99:

IIRC Weise made an accredited suit in about 2007/8.- long before most of the 'good' manufacturers.
