Mr. Honda got back to me today, which only took 3 business days.
I will have to order it and the delivery date would probably be August.
That's wild.

So if I want the Honda, it's black (which I don't want) around end of May, or wait over 4 months until "probably" August for them to fill a container full of customer orders, so I can get the more-interesting colour scheme.

Kinda, but even then there's no guarantee of acceptance. Those people you hear dissing the big K are previous, embittered and rejected applicants. They are akin to poor lost sinners who have been cast from the presence of the lord.

I guess I'll find out.

I've never had a Kawasaki before but Honda can stick it up their jumper. Do they really think I'm going to order a bike before Easter to receive it "probably" in August?

It happened a mate who paid for a new BMW S1000R while back. The dealer wanted his bike right away as a trade in. Long story short,he lost most of that Summer before the new bike arrived.
After much complaining they loaned him a bike and £500 gift voucher. So all was not lost.

Out of interest, how difficult is it to import a bike, are they simple enough to register, do you have to pay loads of extra duty?

It's something I'd rather avoid even trying, to be honest. Plus I wouldn't likely be able to claim the 750€ grant for buying an A2 bike.

It's been fun sharing the pregnancy with you fine folks.

I've just ordered a KLE500SE in white.

It'll be available 08/04, the day after I get back to Malta.

The dealership is working with a local company to offer custom-made lowering links for €140. I reckon I'll do that, and bring it as low as possible without cutting the side stand. That gives me some time to figure out if I want to reduce the seat foam or not, and keep it lowered or not.

HNBD to me :banana-dance:

Good for you!

Have to say it's one of the more acceptable looking new bikes once seen recently.

Looks nice. Hope the links work for you, as there doesnt look like a lot of meat to lose in that seat?

The €400 low seat from Kawasaki looks like that.
I think -30mm would be enough for me, but €400 is pretty salty.

A local lady who is 5'5" (and apparently has enormous balls) is getting one and doing links plus having a local upholsterer reduce the seat. She's offered me a sit on it, once it's done.

My AT seat had the standard seat, but I wanted a bigger gap between the seat and footrest, so I changed it for the higher seat. Visually, not much difference, but on the bike it felt a lot higher! From Honda they wee about £230, so I don't know where Kawasaki is getting €400 from!?!?

IKR, €400 is pretty salty.
Maybe it has a fancy gel insert or something, but even then.
For me they have packaged it wrong, the low seat should've been the standard one, with an optional comfort seat which is basically just suitable for those over 5'11".
They'd have avoided a lot of unnecessary remarks about having the least clearance but highest seat in class that way, although maybe then the comments would be about an uncomfortable seat for long rides.

Happy new bike day brother. 8-)

Also congratulations on your successful application to be a Kawasaki owner. Remember to protect this great privilege with extreme jealousy,as any perceived failure to uphold the often rigorous ambassadorial duties, may result in swift revocation of your ownership and not only will you be henceforth viewed as a social pariah, but sadly it will almost certainly mean the bike will be repossessed.

Number plates...
In Malta for a small fee, you can pick your own combination of ABC123, assuming it isn't already in circulation.
I like the plate to suit the bike... I wonder if KLE500 is taken, or KLE451. What other combinations might work?
