Just watch Critical Drinkers review of Discovery on YouTube and stop there……
Currently watching Babylon 5 from the start. Halfway through season 1 and it’s very dated, some iffy acting, everyone finding their feet, but watching Londo and G’Kar starting as they do as the comedic relief before their fall into Shakespearean tragedy makes it almost painful to watch.

Good things - Anson Mount (looking forward to moving on to ST: Strange New Worlds. He may be my 'best Captain yet'). Spock's not a bad effort too. Po is amusing.
Not so good things - plot, psychodrama stuff, heavy handed sexuality and gender stuff, (very) thinly disguised political parallels (gosh! I wonder who Section 31/Control represent amid the fine ideals of Star Fleet...hmmm..let me think....). Some of the dialogue needs subtitles - they tend to gabble and the sound is iffy at times.
However, I have enjoyed it more as it progressed. We'll see what the future holds.
I've tried to re-do the Babylon 5 compendium a few times and, despite absolutely lovin' it first time around, just can't get going. Maybe I should start around season 3. I have wondered if anyone will ever do a 'reimagining' but suspect Michael J may be a stumbling block.
I see ST: Academy has (rightly, apparently) been unceremoniously canned. It sounds dreadful.
'Hit it'.
(Or as was planned 'G'dit done' until they were warned off by, iirc, Family Guy).

It was / is, if you think Discovery is heavy handed with the sexuality / gender / political / inclusivity stuff then STA turns them all up to 13.Count Steer wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 9:52 am I see ST: Academy has (rightly, apparently) been unceremoniously canned. It sounds dreadful.

Aside from the Subspace Rhapsody episode it's fairly decent, even when does go slightly off pisteCount Steer wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 9:52 am looking forward to moving on to ST: Strange New Worlds. He may be my 'best Captain yet'

I know he's a bit marmite, but we love him and loved this, and he even sneaked in a dig at water companies polluting the seaas. Very funny in places.

"A knight of the seven kingdoms"
hmmmm - a bit meh to be honest, very short episodes, a very short story drawn out as much as feasibly possible, and really only there as a gap-filler and pant-moistener for Game of Thrones die-hards. tbh I was disappointed.
Having said that.... it's probably got the most "realistic" portayal of being in a mediaval fight I've seen on a TV show. (aside from the "getting up after having 3 feet of ashwood thrust through your kidneys")

I probably only started watching this for Dakota Johnson, but ended up sort of enjoying it?

Been watching this on and off and even though I struggle with box sets, its quite good, but I've simply lost interest with it now.

I though Egg was an entertaining character and pretty well acted, but they did milk very little for all it was worth.Rockburner wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 12:51 pm "A knight of the seven kingdoms"

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Finished 5 seasons of Star Trek: Discovery. 7/10
Thought the final season was a bit curate's egg, good in parts. They seemed to have a quiet clear out of all the old bridge crew, no 'big name' actors, felt like a bit of a winding down as they shifted their focus onto Academy (that went well
) and Strange New Worlds.
Just started Strange New Worlds. Anson 'Quiff' Mount* could be the best captain ever. The woman medic is amusing, young Uhura may be mildy irritating but so far it's a 3-thumber
* aka Jonny Bravo.
