Nostalgia TV, do you ?
Was recently watching the Steed, Gambit and Purdey Avengers series and today i'm watching 'Boys from the black stuff' as a bit of nostalgia for my youth growing up in Liverpool. Despite some fairly ropey Scouse accents, it's interesting to watch but very dark representation of the 80s.... Jeezy the world is a much nicer place now than those days.

Yes. I watch Auf Wiedersehen, Pet fairly regularly. I did watch a few episodes of Minder too.

Re: Nostalgia TV, do you ?
I've just noticed actually that some of it was filmed about 400m from where i grew up from 11 years old onwards... Although based upon filming dates, we never actually moved there until about a year after all the filming had taken place.
The particular house they used was lived in by 2 mates by the time we'd moved there... Weird.

I was born 40 years after the end of WWI - which, when I was a kid, seemed like ancient history.McNab wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 11:02 am I don't feel that the 80s were that long ago, but when I watch these shows I'm always struck by how different everything is and it strikes home that it was 40 years ago.
I'm 67 now!

'Allo 'Allo still makes me chuckle after all these years. Silly and childish, but good, uncomplicated comedy.

Re: Nostalgia TV, do you ?
Because we didn't have a television when I was growing up,I never really got into the habit of watching for the sake of it. I don't have the nostalgia thing for old tv programmes as there are only a few childhood shows I ever saw in mate's houses.
If Mrs.Skub didn't watch stuff in the evening I'd rarely think of turning the thing on. Bike racing is the only reason I ever sit my arse to watch the box.

I've watched a few recently with a "you must see this kids!" instruction to my young adults beforehand. Most of it is pretty crappy.

Over the last few years I've been watching every episode of MASH, Heartbeat and Star Trek The Next Generation. Gonna watch the last episode of STTNG tonight but fully done the other 2 series
BTW MASH was filmed in 70MM and plays as Full HD which is amazing from the 70s

Dunno, but Mr Deckard liked my owl.
Even though the owls are not what they seem.

I loved the 80s. Got my fizzy in 83 maybe end of 82.
Gangs of us underage drinking, not a care in the world.
But no, don't really watch old TV, quite happy with a spaghetti western though.

We used to see Jimmy Nail in our local.
