Chain lube.

At the garage yesterday they were singing the praises for Morris lube. I've been using wd40 wax for a few years, without issue's tbf and still got cans on the shelf. But reading, this stuff might be worth a try.

He showed me in the shop, it sprays thin and then thickens after a minute or two. Would probably of been better on none O rings. O or X ring maybe don't matter so much. Might give it a go when the wax has gone, in about 15 years.

I bought some on the basis that everyone raved about it. I found that not being able to see it triggered my OCD. At times you'd spray it on and couldn't see it by the time you'd gone round the chain...or thought you had. Be easier on the Suzuki with a blue master link, but on the 690 I didn't. This probably lead to over spraying the chain. Likewise the chain always looked dry/unlubed making it tricky to know when to reapply. I ended up doing it on mileage. Then I also found that whilst good for fling, it still attracted summer dust. So still needed as much cleaning as my go to Castrol.

I then tried XCP lube as Bennetts rated it highest in their massive test. It was joint top with the Worth but rated better for the actual lube aspect. That's great for appearance and making the chain feel oiled and supple, but it flings like a bastid. I now use it for winter storage as the chain comes out super slick and no corrosion.

So I went back to the Castrol. That I find attracts a fair amount of dirt, but not much more than the Worth and also I can see it so know when it needs doing. It also doesn't fling barely at all.

I suspect the Worth is great for keeping things clean but it triggers my OCD.

And I also know chains don't need a lot of lube but hard to break habits.

How many miles/years do the belts do these days.??

I remember reading about Buell owners having belts snap. Folk fitted a spring tensioner, helped with stones and stuff.

100k miles isn't unheard of if tensioned correctly.

That reminds me, I have to lube the GPz11 chain before Sunday. Haven't had to deal with a 630 chain in about 20 years. It will get the 530 conversion at some point.
No idea where the damn chain lube is...
