Re: How's the lockdown going for everyone ?
09:45 this morning the Jandarma came round escorting the van from the local baker. A chance to buy bread during the 'total' lockdown imposed for this weekend.
I wished them a 'Kolay gelsin and sağlik olsun' and told them I was OK for bread. It seems that working on my balcony is OK.
It is 3 weeks today that over 65s have been under house arrest. Deep joy.

Re: How's the lockdown going for everyone ?
We had a delivery from Asda last night, apart from beer for the wife we got everything we needed.
I wonder if me and her are going a bit too far as we wiped down each and every item delivered with disinfectant wipes before putting them away.
A mate also delivered his turbo trainer for us, that was also wiped down.
Part of me thinks we're a bit nuts, part of me thinks it's the right plan

Personally, I think that’s the perfect plan Weeksy, it’s what I do.
Went into work first thing, then got petrol, put the roof down for the drive home. Lovely morning out there.

Re: How's the lockdown going for everyone ?
My wife and daughter do as well to protect me. Anything that comes into the house is wiped down before I touch it. I've not been past the end of the drive for over four weeks now, although the daughter is going to have to take her turn at school soon so that will open me up to some risk.
Never got a letter saying I was in a high risk group, although I don't believe all have been sent out yet. I am however (I believe) on the high risk group due to my comprimised immune system (which is on the NHS website) due to the drugs I take for RA.

Perfectly sensible. The virus survives on surfaces for about 72 hours apparently so anything that's been handled by other people could be a source of infection unless it's been quarantined for a week.weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 8:23 am We had a delivery from Asda last night, apart from beer for the wife we got everything we needed.

Another one is daily newspapers. Most are printed in the urban infection hotspots and get pushed through your door within hours after a dozen people at least have handled them. Yet people wash their hands religiously, wipe down door handles and light switches then settle down tea and biscuits and a newspaper..
At the end of the day you can't eliminate all risk unless you live in a hermetically seal box taking sterile food through a tube, in which case you might as well be dead anyway.
By the way, vinegar is anti-viral if you run out of wipes.

Update from my earlier post, it seems the bread that was being delivered around the this morning, escorted by the Jandama was free, paid for by the District Governor's office in Marmaris.
I'll have to add that to the list of reasons why I love living here.

A bloke came to the villa today, selling 4 small baguettes in a placcy bag. He had a mask on, but only covered his mouth, not his nose. He didn't make us feel comfortable so declined the offer.

A grand day for biking, blue sky all around.
Sigh.
Sadly, there'll be no bike action for the foreseeable.
Plenty of time to inhale some solder fumes then....

Dunno, I reckon there's some very ill people wishing they'd put more effort in so I can't say I blame you.weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 8:23 am We had a delivery from Asda last night, apart from beer for the wife we got everything we needed.

Plus with a long time to go in lockdown (I expect anyway) it's not like your short of spare time to do it.

A couple on pushbikes have just stopped outside the back gate, racing bikes, lycra full kit. He is delivering his 'motivational' speech about pushing on through it, and she is leaning on my gate while coughing and spluttering, washing her mouth out and dropping tissues everywhere. I now cant go near my back gate for 72 hours... what the fuck is wrong with people?

My "kids" are 21 and 25 so having them around at weekends is unusual. Having them socialise with us in the garden is bloody lovely! As the wife said, it's like being on a family holiday again!

'Locked in' with the missus for over a month now.
I don't mind as such, I have plenty to do. And the money I save not going out at the weekends I can spank on trinkets off Amazon.
The downside of being isolated without the kids is that, as they're adults, I get to worry that they're safe and not doing anything foolish in their relative youth and boredom. Plus obvs they're in a different country, it's not clear at all yet when we'll get to see them again.

I've become more intolerant of people
Had to pop into the lab yesterday after a week out, there are only 3 other people in the whole building but by christ they just won't shut the heck up.

Commuted by motorbike to work today - I find the judgemental "your having fun" looks amusing.

I'm enjoying it
If they could just open the local pub, then i'm not sure i'd ever need to leave the village.

With the exception of seeing friends I really haven't noticed much change. My wife comes and goes as she always has, and I pootle about in sheds and go shopping occasionally.
The need to visit the big island is building though, my van needs replaced. Hardly an essential trip.
