Cashed in my immense lottery winnings ($34 & two free replays). Invested some of that in a few more chances for the coming week

Had a potter in the garage which involved a tool round up followed by putting them away. No tinkering today.

Another 15 pallets join the wood pile
Took 2 trips and had to do lots of cutting at their end
The batteries gave up on last few bits

Re: What have you done today thread?
Two pastoral visits this morning and then lunch. Lots of admin, sorting out paperwork and looking at solar options for the church hall. Joined the team that was doing Tuesday Tea, smaller group than usual today. Still good to be with people and one of them wants to be Baptised, so chatted about dates and so on. Then back home to continue with admin and then cooked dinner.

You spoil that dog. Most people would just let it find its own stick to play with...

My dressing gown has been thrown in the washing machine for its biennial wash. It will lose all its character.

Got to the office.
Realised I'd left my work phone, sign on card, PIN fob, etc. on my desk at home. Basically everything I need to do my job.
I'm currently on a train on the way home...
FFS. What a waste of time and money.

Not a lot, apart from having a cup of tea I've booked one dog into vets for later (he's got an ear infection) and another dog is already going up the vets for her anti arthritis injection. So my wallet will be sore later.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Heading to lunch today, I was following a Mini which emitted a short burst of white smoke from its exhaust followed by a constant stream of white smoke which engulfed both lanes of the dual carriageway. Naturally I slowed down, eventually pulling up alongside the mini whose drive looked quite perplexed.
Before I could pull over safely, the drivers of the cars in front and behind her had exited their vehicles heading towards the stricken mini…
My best guess*, the oil seals in her turbo had failed and the engine had burnt its way through a rich blend of oil & fuel before failing in any number of expensive ways
* I had the same happen years ago to a Laguna I owned which holed a piston and destroyed the fuel pump and turbo

Re: What have you done today thread?
Auto stop/start is killing a lot of turbo engines. It shuts the engine off, but at times the turbo is still spinning but theres no oil feed now the engine is shut off.Silly Car wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 4:37 pm Heading to lunch today, I was following a Mini which emitted a short burst of white smoke from its exhaust followed by a constant stream of white smoke which engulfed both lanes of the dual carriageway. Had coffee and a yarn with an old mate for a couple of hours this morning.
After lunch was spent watching recorded wsbk from Oz. My partner for the viewing feigned disinterest.

Re: What have you done today thread?
It’s been all rock and roll in Chez Silly today…
Dog walk
Descaled kettle and coffee machine
Swapped a radiator over, single to single convector from bedroom used as an office which has a whopping double convector in one of the smallest rooms in the house, but I’m happy and given the snoring daily from the hound, Hugo is happy
Grocery shopping
Gym session - bloody lost my ear bud pod, hopefully it’s been handed in
Dog walk trying to avoid hearing the rugby score (failed)
Hacked loose/failed plaster off around recently fitted new back door
Booked trip to skips tomorrow
Booked 4 sessions viewing at Snooker UK championship at the Barbican York at end of November plus hotel
Drank home brew Pinter beer and now tucking in to a rather nice bottle of Fonseca Port received as a gift at Christmas

Re: What have you done today thread?
Went round f-i-ls place to mount a key safe on the wall, assuming my f-i-l will come home. Then I had to put a house name sign thing up on the front of the house. Then 2 bird boxes as f-i-l likes to feed and watch the birds. Then I was asked about the internal doors that didnt shut properly. So I looked into it, and found that for each hinge, the tight old bastard had used 4 screws instead of 8 on every hinge!
Now if I bollocked him about it, he'd say, they've been up there for 20 years, working well, so am I wrong. I guess you'd have to know my f-i-l to appreciate this situation, but for me its very funny, especially as he's now just mugged me for. 20 brass screws to do the job properly that he should have done in the first place!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Died. Nearly.
Went out cycling this morning, then when watching some bicycle stuff on sofa I got REALLY cold
Duvet on me an 2 jumpers and shivering lots, like really really constant
Then a high temp and freezing and sweating at the same time. Fighting back the puke.
Bizarre.
