Every time it rained at least two of them would go off. I'd ring BT, they'd claim there was no problem, I would insist on a 'line test' and every time they'd come back on before the end of the call.
That's called 'blowing the fault away' with their test equipment. The BT guys eventually fessed up to it, as we knew them and saw them regularly down the local pub.
Yes, but they also know it will come back again. Next time it rains.
Absolutely. But blowing the fault away gets the customer off their back and looks good on the stats. Much easier than troubleshooting where the actual fault is and fixing it.

I wanted to go for a swim. Just cruise up and down..

You get 50 mins in a session, hold on, I may want longer. Nope that's your lot, 50.

I want just swim a bit. Nope you get lanes, in the lanes you must do xyz speed, follow these rules. Etc

Wtf happened to it being a bit of fun..

Discount codes ie 'enter xyz123March26 at check-out'.

Just do what the company I just bought something from does, reduce the price displayed.

(Guess who forgot to put the :angry-cussingblack: discount code in on something recently? ).

Email from a colleague, 'Thanks for your email. I'm on holiday this week. Why don't we catch up next week to discuss?'

You fucking sad woman. If you're on holiday, be on holiday. Don't be sending emails that add no value anyway.

Bike jackets manufacturers who use the wrong fastening system in specific places.

my current gripe is the pop-buttons on my new jacket. 2 for each cuff - one is fine - the other is so frigging tight that it's completely useless (and I don't have navvie's wrists).

Very likely to rip the stupid poppers off and just sew some velcro on instead.

Thinking about it... my leather jacket (which is DXR as well) has the same stupid poppers.

Appraisals! I bitterly resent this yearly waste of my time that has never had any bearing or outcome on my role. Might have some point up at director/management level, but down here at plebian level its just pointless. If I could get it past my line manager, i'd put swear words in just to see if any ever reads it! What a load of bollocks!

We've been asked to write new bios for ourselves for the company website....

I took great pleasure in writing a very cheeky and and insulting (to myself) version, but then chickened out of actualy sending it...

Bide your time until your close to retirement.

Then sit and snigger when they get to the 'long-term objectives' box :)

I had that today, when i questioned one of the questions, which alluded to where do you see yourself/role in 5 years? I said I'm 63 this year so wont be here then...

Organised a lift down to the North East to buy a cheap run around car. Did all the usual questions and asked if cash was OK. I only have about £1000 in English notes and the rest is Jock. Sorry i dont take Scottish notes. Well fuck you, i dont take English cars. OK its French but piss off regardless.

Most people in England and Wales won't have seen a Scottish bank note. A bloke turning up with a bag full and telling me it's proper money, now give me your car isn't really going to happen.

Norn Iron folk run into a similar problem when over in Scotchland. Lots of places refuse to take an Ulster,or Bank of Ireland note. Pointing out where it says 'pound sterling' will help you not a bit.

Why on earth anyone would use money for any transaction these days is a mystery to me, let alone an 'unusual' currency.... Why make things more complicated than they need to be ? It's not like the old days where cash would get you discount or a level of security that a cheque doesn't etc... Just transfer it.... Simple.

Because of the bank charges associated with owning a card terminal,a lot of smaller shops are cash only. Then there are the others who only accept card payment over a value of £5.

Don't know of a single shop here that's cash only.
